Patrick Emond
Patrick Emond is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former player. Although he ended his junior ice hockey eligibility as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) all-time assists record holder, he never played in the National Hockey League (NHL). His assists record has only been exceeded by Patrice Lefebvre. After retiring as a player he mostly served as the head coach for Genève-Servette HC of the Swiss National League (NL) and its junior affiliate. Emond began his junior career with the Trois-Rivières Draveurs during the 1981–82 season. During the following season he was traded to the Hull Olympiques. After the season ended he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, and was invited to the Penguins training camp but was cut from the team. Penguins general manager Eddie Johnston said that he was cut because he did not like playing in "heavy traffic" but Edmond felt that "the fact I was the only francophone didn't help. 1983 NHL Entry Draft
The 1983 NHL Entry Draft was the 21st NHL Entry Draft. It was held at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec, on June 8, 1983. The NHL Entry Draft is the primary means by which players arrive in the National Hockey League. The St. Louis Blues did not participate in this draft, shortly after the league blocked the franchise's relocation to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This was the only time in National Hockey League history that a franchise did not participate in an entry draft. The Pittsburgh Penguins are a team in the National Hockey League (NHL). History Joe Daley became the first of 20 players selected by the Penguins in the 1967 NHL Expansion Draft on June 6, 1967. The next day, the Penguins participated in their first amateur draft, where they selected Steve Rexe second overall. UQTR Patriotes
The UQTR Patriotes are the athletic teams that represent the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. The university features teams in swimming, golf, hockey, soccer, cross-country, volleyball and cheerleading. Notably, the men's ice hockey team has won four University Cup national championships since the program was first established in 1969. The 1985–86 QMJHL season was the 17th season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league loses one of its charter members in the offseason, when the Quebec Remparts suspend operations. The remaining ten teams played 72 games each in the schedule. Gilles Courteau became president of the QMJHL on February 13, 1986. The Hull Olympiques finished first overall in the regular season, winning their first Jean Rougeau Trophy, and won their first President's Cup, defeating the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the finals.
