Patrick Laurence Doherty (1926 – 7 January 2016), better known as Paddy 'Bogside' Doherty, was a Northern Irish activist from Derry, known for his activism in rebuilding the city after The Troubles. Pat Doherty (politician)
Patrick Doherty (born 18 July 1945) is a retired Sinn Féin politician, and was the abstentionist Member of Parliament for West Tyrone from 2001 to 2017. He was a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for the Assembly constituency of the same name from June 1998 to June 2012. Doherty served as Vice President of Sinn Féin from 1988 to 2009, when Mary Lou McDonald became the party's new Vice President. Political career Doherty was born in Glasgow; his parents were from County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. He moved to Donegal in 1968, shortly before the Troubles broke out across the Irish border. He is best known as one of the stars of ''My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'' and '' Danny Dyer's Deadliest Men''. He won ''Celebrity Big Brother 8''.
