Patricia Haddad
Patricia A. Haddad (born May 7, 1950 in Fall River, Massachusetts) is an American politician who represents the 5th Bristol district in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and formerly served as Speaker pro Tempore of the House. Prior to serving in the Massachusetts General Court, General Court, Haddad spent 14 years as a teacher in Somerset, Massachusetts and was a member of that town's school committee from 1993 to 2001. The Massachusetts House of Representatives is the lower house of the Massachusetts General Court, the state legislature of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is composed of 160 members elected from 14 counties each divided into single-member electoral districts across the Commonwealth. The House of Representatives convenes at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. Qualifications Any person seeking to get elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives must meet the following qualifications: * Be at least eighteen years of age * Be a registered voter in Massachusetts * Be an inhabitant of the district for at least one year prior to election * Receive at least 150 signatures on nomination papers Representation Originally, representatives were apportioned by town.
