This paved pathway, for walking, jogging and biking, runs mostly along the Caney River and Turkey Creek, connecting Johnstone Park, Robinwood Park, Jo Allyn Lowe Park, Sooner Park, Bartlesville High School, the Wesleyan Church, and Eastland Shopping Center, at the corner of Hwy 75 and Frank Phillips Blvd. Former city planner Joel Smith originally planned for Pathfinder to run along both sides of the Caney River and to connect to Circle Mountain. Bartlesville is a city mostly in Washington County in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The population was 37,290 at the 2020 census. Bartlesville is north of Tulsa and south of the Kansas border. It is the county seat of Washington County. The Caney River runs through Bartlesville. Bartlesville is the primary city of the Bartlesville Micropolitan area, which consists of Washington County and had a population of 51,843 in 2018. A small portion of the city is in Osage County. The city is also part of the Tulsa Combined Statistical Area, with a population of 1,151,172 in 2015. Bartlesville is notable as the longtime home of Phillips Petroleum Company. Frank Phillips founded Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville in 1905 when the area was still an Indian Territory. Jo Allyn Lowe Park
Jo Allyn Lowe Park (32 acres) is a public park, with arboretum, located at the corner of Price Road and Locust Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, United States. It is open to the public daily. The park was created in 1980 and named to honor the founder of the Bartlesville Boys Club. It consists of a lake (with fishing pier), tallgrass prairie, and arboretum. The arboretum contains hundreds of species of trees, mostly planted as memorials. This is an entrance point to Pathfinder Parkway, a bicycle/jogging/walking path that now extends south into Colonial Housing Addition, but the majority heads north toward Johnstone Park and connects to other parts of the Parkway. The Caney River (Lenape: Kènii Sipu ) is a U.S. Geological Survey. The river is a tributary of the Verdigris River, and is usually a flatwater stream. The Caney forms just north of the town of Grenola in Elk County, Kansas, then moves south into Oklahoma near Elgin, Kansas. It then flows south through Osage County, where it is dammed near Bowring to form Hulah Lake. Downstream of the Hulah dam, the river flows into Washington County through the center of Bartlesville, where it separates the city's downtown from its residential east side.
