Pat Poels
Patrick "Pat" Poels (born 1968) is an American professional poker player from Mesa, Arizona and a two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner. He currently leads the engineering team at Snyk as the company's SVP of Engineering, and formerly led engineering for Eventbrite as the company's CTO. Poels won the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) $1500 Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 or Better event earning $270,100, defeating two-time bracelet winner John Lukas in the heads-up play. 2005 World Series Of Poker
The 2005 World Series of Poker opened play on June 2nd, continuing through the Main Event No Limit World Championship starting on July 7th. The conclusion of the Main Event on July 15th marked the close of play, and the largest prize in sports and/or television history at the time ($7,500,000) was awarded to the winner. ESPN's broadcast began July 19th with coverage of WSOP Circuit Tournaments, and coverage of the Main Event began October 11th and ended November 15th. All events were held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino with the exception of the final 2 days of the Main Event which were held at Binion's Horseshoe. The World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet is considered the most coveted non-monetary prize a poker player can win. Since 1976, a bracelet has been awarded to the winner of every event at the annual WSOP. Even if the victory occurred before 1976, WSOP championships are now counted as "bracelets". During the first years of the WSOP only a handful of bracelets were awarded each year. In 1990, there were only 14 bracelet events. By 2000, that number increased to 24. As the popularity of poker has increased during the 2000s, the number of events has likewise increased. John Lukas
John Lukas is an American poker player who has won two bracelets at the World Series of Poker. He won his first bracelet in 1983, in the $1,000 Limit Razz event, earning $43,000. Lukas won his second bracelet in 1985, in the $1,000 Limit Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo event, earning $74,500. Since his victories at the WSOP, he has cashed in numerous poker tournaments, as well as playing in cash games. The Hendon Mob
The Hendon Mob are a group of four professional poker players from London, England: Joe Beevers, Barny Boatman, Ross Boatman, and Ram Vaswani. The name of the group was first publicised by the ''Evening Standard'' newspaper in September 2000. Joe Beevers is the only member of the group who actually comes from Hendon, but the others played in Hendon. The Mob first became recognised for their appearances on the televised poker programme ''Late Night Poker'' (1999–2002). The Hendon Mob also regularly attends the annual World Series of Poker and other major tournaments. They have dozens of in the money results between them.
