Pat McCready
Pat McCready (born October 18, 1974 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a retired Canadian lacrosse player who played most of his National Lacrosse League career for Rochester Knighthawks, Buffalo Bandits, Toronto Rock, and Charlotte Cobras. As of 2013, he ranks third in NLL history in loose balls (1,593), second in penalty minutes (468), and seventh in games played (219). NLL career McCready made his professional lacrosse debut in 1996 with the Charlotte Cobras. In 1997, he joined the Rochester Knighthawks where he played until he was traded to the Buffalo Bandits in a blockbuster deal that exchanged seven players between the two teams before the 2002 season. In 2007, McCready made his National Lacrosse League All-Star Game debut. On August 5, 2009, McCready was traded from the Buffalo Bandits along with a third-round draft pick in 2009 to the Toronto Rock in exchange for a second-round draft pick in the 2009 entry draft, first-round pick in 2010, and a second-round pick in 2011. ... Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) is a Senior A box lacrosse league based in Ontario, Canada sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Most of the star players in the league play or have played in the National Lacrosse League. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the right to compete against the Western Lacrosse Association champion for the Mann Cup every September. The championship is hosted alternately between Ontario and British Columbia every year. Brampton Excelsiors (MSL)
The Brampton Excelsiors are Senior "A" box lacrosse team from Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The Excelsiors play in the Major Series Lacrosse Senior "A" Lacrosse League. History Perkins Bull, author of "From Rattlesnake Hunt To Hockey: The History of Sports in Canada and of the Sportsmen of Peel, 1798 to 1934", wrote that while it was Harry W. Dawson who brought "the first stick into Brampton," the "first regular play began in 1871" when George M. Lee, second Master in the Brampton High School, initiated the first organized game. OLA Senior B Lacrosse League
Ontario Series Lacrosse, known as the OLA Senior B Lacrosse League from 1999-2019, is a Senior box lacrosse league based out of Ontario, Canada sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Many of the players in the league play or have played in the National Lacrosse League. OSL winners earn a chance at the national championship—the Presidents Cup. History The league was formed in late 1999 with play beginning in 2000. Founding members of the league were the Arthur Aces, Brooklin Merchants and St. Clair Storm. The Brooklin Lacrosse Club is a box lacrosse team from Brooklin, Ontario. Brooklin plays in the Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) league (formerly known as Senior "A"). The MSL, and its counterpart, the Western Lacrosse Association, represent the highest level of competitive box lacrosse in Canada. The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) is a men's Senior A box lacrosse sanctioned by the Canadian Lacrosse Association. It consists of seven teams, based in cities throughout southwestern British Columbia. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the right to compete against the Major Series Lacrosse champion for the Mann Cup every September. The championship is hosted alternately between Ontario and British Columbia every year. The calibre of lacrosse in the WLA is very high, as the majority of its players also play in the National Lacrosse League during the winter months, while the WLA schedule runs from mid-May to August. Langley Thunder
The Langley Thunder are a Senior A box lacrosse team, based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The team competes in the 7-team Western Lacrosse Association (WLA), playing their home games at the 5,276 capacity Langley Events Centre. The Thunder won back-to-back WLA Championships in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Notable Thunder players include Athan Iannucci, Alex Turner, and Matt Leveque. OLA Junior B Lacrosse League
The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association in Canada. The league features twenty-five teams in Ontario, one in Quebec, and one in the Akwesasne (which straddles the two aforementioned provinces and New York) that annually play a 20-game schedule and four rounds of playoffs for the J. A. MacDonald Trophy. After the conclusion of the playoffs, a league champion represents the OJBLL at the Founders Cup National Junior B Championship. Canadian Lacrosse Hall Of Fame
The Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame is a Canadian lacrosse hall of fame, located in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. The Hall was chartered in 1965 by the Canadian Lacrosse Association, and inducted its first class of hall of famers in the following year. History Induction of new members is made on an annual basis. In 1965, three categories were inaugurated: Field Players, Box Players and Builders. A Veteran category was added in 1997 to preserve the memory of stars of yesteryear, and in 1988, an outstanding Team category was also added. Bob McCready
Robert "Buff" McCready (1940 – June 2007) was a Canadian professional and amateur box lacrosse goaltender. McCready was also a professional lacrosse coach in the National Lacrosse League. He won the Mann Cup National Canadian Major championship and was named 1971 most valuable player. McCready was considered an elite goaltender in his time and is credited as turning the goaltending position into an offensive threat as well as the last line of defense. He is a member of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Career Buff was born in Port Dalhousie, Ontario. In 1960, Buff was transferred from St. Catharines to Whitby in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League. That year he led the Red Wings to an OJALL title and to the Minto Cup final where they ultimately lost.
