Pastor Serrador
Heriberto Pastor Serrador was a Cuban-born Argentine actor who lived and worked in Spain beginning in the early 1950s. Biography Pastor Serrador was born in Camagüey, Cuba in 1919, the grandson of the actors Esteban Serrador and Josefina Marí. His father was the merchant Heriberto Pastor and his mother was the actress , the sister of Esteban, , and Pepita Serrador. He was the first cousin of director Narciso Ibáñez Serrador. His childhood was spent in Argentina, where he began his career as an actor on the radio. He debuted in theater around 1935, and in 1938 he married the Argentine actress , separating a few years later. From that union his first son would be born. The pressures to which he was subjected by his activities as secretary of the pushed him to move to Spain, where he married the actress Luisa Sala and took up residence in 1952. Camagüey
Camagüey () is a city and municipality in central Cuba and is the nation's third-largest city with more than 321,000 inhabitants. It is the capital of the Camagüey Province. It was founded as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe in 1514, by Spanish colonists on the northern coast and moved inland in 1528, to the site of a Taino village named Camagüey. It was one of the seven original settlements (''villas'') founded in Cuba by the Spanish. After Henry Morgan burned the city in the 17th century, it was redesigned like a maze so attackers would find it hard to move around inside the city. The symbol of the city of Camagüey is the clayen pot or ''tinajón'', used to capture rain water and keep it fresh. Camagüey is also the birthplace of Ignacio Agramonte (1841), an important figure of the Ten Years' War against Spain. ''Curro Jiménez'' was a successful Spanish television historical drama series that was first broadcast on La Primera Cadena of Televisión Española from December 22, 1976 to March 25, 1978. Its main theme was Andalusian "bandolerismo" (bandit lifestyle) in the 19th century, located in the Ronda mountains. The main characters were four bandits, Curro Jiménez (the romantic prototype of the Andalusian "bandolero", El Algarrobo ("the Carob tree"), El Gitano ("the Gipsy") and El Estudiante ("the Student"). The series consisted of 40 episodes, in three seasons, and a movie. It was followed by a 12 episodes sequel aired in 1995 on Antena 3. The Crucible
''The Crucible'' is a 1953 play by American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials that took place in the Massachusetts Bay Colony during 1692–93. Miller wrote the play as an allegory for McCarthyism, when the United States government persecuted people accused of being communists. Miller was questioned by the House of Representatives' Committee on Un-American Activities in 1956 and convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to identify others present at meetings he had attended. The play was first performed at the Martin Beck Theatre on Broadway on January 22, 1953, starring E. G. Marshall, Beatrice Straight and Madeleine Sherwood. Miller felt that this production was too stylized and cold, and the reviews for it were largely hostile (although ''The New York Times'' noted "a powerful play n adriving performance"). ''Pygmalion'' is a play by Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, named after the Greek mythological figure. It premiered at the Hofburg Theatre in Vienna on 16 October 1913 and was first presented in German on stage to the public in 1913. Its English-language premiere took place at Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End in April 1914 and starred Herbert Beerbohm Tree as phonetics professor Henry Higgins and Mrs Patrick Campbell as Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle. In ancient Greek mythology, Pygmalion fell in love with one of his sculptures, which then came to life. The general idea of that myth was a popular subject for Victorian era British playwrights, including one of Shaw's influences, W. S. Gilbert, who wrote a successful play based on the story called '' Pygmalion and Galatea'' that was first presented in 1871.
