Paso Carrasco
Paso de Carrasco or Paso Carrasco is a city in the Canelones Department of Uruguay. Paso Carrasco is also the name of the municipality to which the city belongs and which includes also Barra de Carrasco and the area of the International Airport. Location The city is located on Route 106 (Camino Carrasco), east of the stream Arroyo Carrasco. Across this stream it borders the Montevideo Department, to the southeast it borders the Ciudad de la Costa, while to the northeast is the Carrasco International Airport. History On 15 October 1963 its status was elevated to "Pueblo" (village) by the Act of Ley Nº 13.167. On 19 October 1994, its status was further elevated to "Ciudad" (city) by the Act of Ley Nº 16.608. Population According to the 2011 census, Paso Carrasco had a population of 15,908. Uruguay's calling code is +598. Since 2010, national long distance calling was eliminated, thus there are no area codes in each city. Landline telephony ANTEL (Spanish abbreviation for National Administration of Telecommunications) is Uruguay's state-owned company for telecommunications. Previously in Uruguay, phone numbers used to have between 4 and 7 digits. To make a local phone call, you only had to dial those digits. To make a call between two cities from different departments, you had to dial zero, plus area code, plus phone number. As from August 29, 2010, all phone numbers have 8 digits, according to the new National Numbering Plan. Zero prior to area code was eliminated. The Departamento de Canelones ( es, Departamento de Canelones; ) is one of the 19 uruguayan departments. With an area of and 518,154 inhabitants, it is located in the south of Uruguay. Montevideo () is a department (''departamento'') of Uruguay. It is by far the smallest department in area, but also by far the most populated. Ciudad De La Costa
Ciudad de la Costa is a city in Canelones Department of Uruguay, on the banks of the RÃo de la Plata between the streams Arroyo Carrasco and Arroyo Pando. It is considered an extension of the metropolitan area of Montevideo which it borders to the west, while to the east it borders Costa de Oro. Carrasco/General Cesáreo L. Berisso International Airport is the main international airport of Uruguay. It is the country's largest airport and is located in the Carrasco neighborhood of Montevideo.
