Pasca Myers
Pasca Jerono (née Cheptanui Cheruiyot; formerly Pasca Myers, born July 27, 1986) is a Kenya, Kenyan-born America, American middle-distance running, middle- and long-distance running, long-distance runner best known for winning the 2014 Grandma's Marathon in 2:33:45. Early career Myers grew up in Marakwet District, Kenya. Like other freshmen in her high school, she was required to run during her first semester. Sally Kipyego was also at the school, and the two both competed through the regionals and into the province races (one step below nationals) in Kenya. After college scouts spotted her, she traveled to attend college in the US. Finances kept her from attending a NCAA D-I school, so she began college at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, in 2007. Long-distance Running
Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. Florida State Seminoles Track And Field
The track and field teams of Florida State University, (variously Florida State or FSU), are currently coached by Bob Braman and compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Alevtina Ivanova (russian: Алевтина Иванова) (born 22 May 1975) is a Russian long-distance runner who specialises in the marathon. She has won at the Prague International Marathon (in 2002) and the Nagano Olympic Commemorative Marathon (in 2007 and 2008). Ivanova has competed much on the road running circuit in the United States and has won the Beach to Beacon 10K, Crim 10-Mile Race, News and Sentinel Half Marathon and America's Finest City Half Marathon. Amway River Bank Run
The Amway River Bank Run is an annual road running race hosted by Amway in United States, U.S. city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, in the month of May. The 25K run was created and first held in 1978 by Old Kent Bank as the Old Kent River Bank Run and continued under that name until 2000, when its name was changed to the Fifth Third River Bank Run. The name of the race changed again in late 2018 when Amyway agreed to take over primary sponsorship of the race from Fifth Third Bank. Kim Pawelek Brantly (born January 20, 1974) is a Vietnamese-American middle- and long-distance runner. She is the woman's 1999 US Marathon Champion. Early life When Kim Pawelek Brantly was one year old, her family boarded a plane at the Saigon airport to escape the troubles of the Vietnam War. Shortly after their takeoff, further evacuation came to a halt due to the Bombing of Tan Son Nhut Air Base. After arriving in the United States, Pawelek's family began a new life in Baltimore, then moved to Thorp, Wisconsin, where Pawelek's mother attended elementary school with her daughters.
