Parvaneh Etemadi
Parvaneh Etemadi (; born 1947, or 1948) is an Iranian visual artist. She works as a painter, draftsperson, printmaker, and collagist. She is known for her still life work, and cement paintings. Etemadi is a major art figure within the city of Tehran, but is also well known internationally. Biography Parvaneh Etemadi was born in 1947 or 1948 in Tehran, and she was raised in Birjand in South Khorasan province, Iran. She attended the University of Tehran in the Department of Fine Art, but did not graduate. She was mentored in painting under Bahman Mohasses, and is considered his only direct student. Her first solo exhibition was in 1969 at in Tehran; and between 1967 and 1977, she regularly showed her work there alongside other artists working in the modernism movement. She has publicly said she does not like to be labeled as a 'woman artist' or as a 'feminist artist', and believes her work resonates more with the, "agony and ecstasy of poetry". Parvaneh Forouhar
Parvaneh Forouhar ( fa, پروانه‌ فروهر, Eskandari (); 20 March 1939 – 22 November 1998) was an Iranian dissident and activist who was murdered during the chain murders of Iran in November 1998. Biography Dariush Forouhar's wife, she became a member of the Party of the Iranian Nation when she was a university student, launching an anti-Shah campaign alongside Dariush Forouhar. After a while, they got married. Their witness in absentia was Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh and the clergyman marrying the couple was Ayatollah Zanjani. Both of the Forouhars were proponents of a democratic and independent Iran and supported the separation of state and religion, they felt that the Islamic Republic led to a concentration of power and made political reform difficult. Parvaneh Majd Eskandari was stabbed 25 times on the second floor of her home while she was very ill. She was 59 years old at the time of her death. Parvaneh Milani ( fa, , 1942 – January 1, 2015) was a self-educated Iranian poet, author, translator, human rights activist, a member of the Writers Association of Iran and a recipient of Gwangju Prize for Human Rights. Parvaneh Pourshariati is an Iranian-born American historian of Middle Eastern studies, scholar, and educator. She is an Associate Professor of History at New York City College of Technology (CUNY), and former president of the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies.
