Party Of The Sicilians
The Party of Sicilians ( it, Partito dei Siciliani, PdS) was a regionalist and Christian-democratic political party in Sicily. It was the Sicilian regional section of the Movement for the Autonomies (MpA). History In August 2012 it was announced that the Sicilian section of the MpA would be renamed Party of Sicilians (PdS). Contextually, Raffaele Lombardo, MpA leader and incumbent President of Sicily, chose not to run again in the 2012 Sicilian regional election. The newly formed PdS supported Gianfranco Micciché for President, as part of a "Sicilianist" coalition comprising Micciché's Great South (GS), the Sicilian People's Movement (MPS) and the regional section of Future and Freedom (FLI). Micciché won 15.4% of the vote, while the PdS obtained 9.5% and ten regional deputies. Raffaele Lombardo
Raffaele Lombardo ; (born 29 October 1950, in Catania) is an Italian politician who was President of Sicily and former Member of the European Parliament for Islands with the Movement for the Autonomies and has sat on the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs. In 2005, he split off from the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats (UDC) to form the autonomist Sicilian-based Movement for Autonomy, after he had accused the UDC leadership of being too centralist. In 2008, he was elected as President of Sicily, obtaining over 65% of the regional votes and defeating Anna Finocchiaro of the Democratic Party. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The two houses together form a perfect bicameral system, meaning they perform identical functions, but do so separately. Francesco Saverio Romano (born 24 December 1964) is an Italian politician and lawyer. He served as the minister of agricultures in 2011 and a member of the Chamber of Deputies between 2001 and 2018. Early life and education Romano was born in Palermo on 24 December 1964. He holds a law degree, which he received from the University of Palermo in 1988. The Sicilian National Movement ( it, Movimento Nazionale Siciliano, MNS) is a separatist coalition of parties active in Sicily. The coalition was launched in November 2016 and officially founded in January 2017. Its three founding members were: Sicily Nation (SN), the Movement for the Independence of Sicily (MIS; re-edition of the separatist party which was active after World War II) and the Sicilian National Front (FNS).
