The Party of Civic Rights ( cs, Strana Práv Občanů, SPO), also referred to as Zemanovci, is a centre-left, left-wing populist social-democratic political party in the Czech Republic founded in October 2009 by Miloš Zeman, the former prime minister of the Czech Republic and former leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party. Zeman was elected the president of the Czech Republic in the second round of the 2013 Czech presidential election. The party advocates direct democracy and the Nordic model. In 2014, Jan Veleba, elected as an independent candidate in the 2012 Czech Senate election, joined the party and became its chairman. In the 2014 Czech Senate election, former JZD Slusovice chairman František Čuba was elected as the party's second senator. It has never won a seat in the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic. The president of the Czech Republic is the head of state of the Czech Republic and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. Freedom And Direct Democracy
Freedom and Direct Democracy ( cs, Svoboda a přímá demokracie, SPD) is a right-wing populist political party in the Czech Republic. It is led by Tomio Okamura and it holds 20 seats in the Chamber of Deputies. It has been described as right-wing or far-right on the political spectrum. It expresses opposition to immigration and it is staunchly Eurosceptic, while in their political program they state their support for direct democracy. History The party was founded in May 2015 by Tomio Okamura and Radim Fiala when eight Members of Parliament split from the Dawn of Direct Democracy parliamentary group. As the party was newly-formed in that parliamentary term, these MPs sat as independents until the 2017 Czech legislative election. Tomio Okamura
is a Czech politician and entrepreneur of Moravian Wallachian, Japanese and Korean ethnicity. He founded the Czech political parties Dawn of Direct Democracy and Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD). Since October 2013, he has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic (MP), initially for Dawn of Direct Democracy and then from May 2015 for SPD (styled "SPD – Tomio Okamura"), of which he is also leader. Elections to regional councils in the Czech Republic in 13 regions (except Prague) were held on 7 and 8 October 2016. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association.
