Partnership (Fulton, Maryland)
Partnership, is a historic building constructed in Fulton, Maryland, in Howard County, although the land was part of Anne Arundel County at the time of the construction. The building was formerly one of the oldest in Howard County until its relocation in 1963 to Phoenix, Maryland in Baltimore County. Partnership is a three-bay wide brick construction house with a gambrel roof. The bricks were created on-site, some with animal footprints imbedded. In 1719, the land named Partnership was patented by Thomas Worthington (c. 1890–1753). A brick home was constructed on-site at what was a slave tobacco plantation. Worthington's daughter Katherine (1720–1788) took the property as part of a dowry to her marriage with Captain Nicholas Gassaway. Captain Gassaway (c. 1719–1755) resided on the property and estate in 1775 when he willed it to his son Brice John Gassaway (1755–1806). Phoenix is an unincorporated community located in Baltimore County in the State of Maryland, United States. It is located at latitude 39°30'59" North, longitude 76°36'59" West. The United States Postal Service has assigned Phoenix the ZIP code 21131. Part of the area is also known as Jacksonville, although Jacksonville was once a separate community to the east. Hunt Valley Golf Club, a 36-hole private golf course, is located in Phoenix. The NCR Trail also runs through Phoenix, which hosts one of the rail trail's major parking lots. Fulton, Maryland
Fulton is a census-designated place located in southern Howard County, Maryland, Howard County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census it had a population of 2,049. History Indigenous peoples, likely Piscataway, used the land now known as Fulton for hunting and farming. The land's first European survey was by Thomas Browne II, Thomas Browne, known as the "Patuxent Ranger", in 1700. In the mid-1700s Richard Snowden (ironmaster), Richard Snowden, the Quaker grandson of one of Maryland's first iron ore producers, purchased tracts of land up the Patuxent River valley. Gambrel
A gambrel or gambrel roof is a usually symmetrical two-sided roof with two slopes on each side. (The usual architectural term in eighteenth-century England and North America was "Dutch roof".) The upper slope is positioned at a shallow angle, while the lower slope is steep. This design provides the advantages of a sloped roof while maximizing headroom inside the building's upper level and shortening what would otherwise be a tall roof. The Rouse Company, founded by Hunter Moss and James W. Rouse in 1939, was a publicly held shopping mall and community developer from 1956 until 2004, when General Growth Properties (GGP) purchased the company.
