Partita (Dallapiccola)
The Partita for orchestra with a solo soprano () by the Italian composer Luigi Dallapiccola was composed between 1930 and 1932. ''Partita'' is the work with which Dallapiccola first came to international recognition. Written in memory of the Italian pianist , it is scored in four movements for orchestra, with a soprano solo in the final movement. In a manner analogous to the finale of Mahler's Fourth Symphony, the setting is a childlike medieval Latin lullaby. The work was premiered at the Teatro Comunale, Florence, on 22 January 1933 by the theatre orchestra under Vittorio Gui, with as soloist. Movements #Passacaglia. Molto solenne #Burlesca. Luigi Dallapiccola
Luigi Dallapiccola (February 3, 1904 – February 19, 1975) was an Italian composer known for his lyrical twelve-tone compositions. Biography Dallapiccola was born in Pisino d'Istria (at the time part of Austria-Hungary, current Pazin, Croatia), to Italian parents. Unlike many composers born into highly musical environments, his early musical career was irregular at best. Political disputes over his birthplace of Istria, then part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, led to instability and frequent moves. His father was headmaster of an Italian-language school – the only one in the city – which was shut down at the start of World War I. The family, considered politically subversive, was placed in internment at Graz, Austria, where the budding composer did not even have access to a piano, though he did attend performances at the local opera house, which cemented his desire to pursue composition as a career. Stradivarius Records, Italian Casa Discografica Stradivarius (founded 1988) is a Milan based independent Italian record label specializing in early music and contemporary classical music. The record label was originally based from a shop in the Via Stradivari, but the shop is now located in the Via Sormani, Cologno Monzese. Capriccio (record Label)
Capriccio is a formerly German, now Austrian, classical music record label. The original Capriccio label was founded in the 1980s and was until 2010 part of Delta-Music GmbH a German record company located in Großkönigsdorf, Frechen near Cologne, which was founded in 1970 by Philippe Sautot and Jürgen Moll. Following the bankruptcy of the Delta Music GMBH, the artistic director of Capriccio, Johannes Kernmayer, decided to carry on with several ongoing, but unfunded, recording projects from the profitable classical section of Delta as "Phoenix Edition." The releases on Phoenix Edition were commercially successful and enabled Kernmayer to rescue the classical back-catalogue of Capriccio and reestablish the Capriccio label as a new independent company in Vienna. Karl-Heinz Steffens
Karl-Heinz Steffens (born 28 November 1961) is a German clarinetist and conductor. For the first part of his musical career, Steffens was a solo clarinetist, and also served as principal clarinet with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic. From 2009 to 2018, Steffens was music director of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz in Ludwigshafen. During his tenure, the orchestra received such honours as the ECHO award for Best Orchestra in 2015 for their recording of works by Bernd Alois Zimmermann. Steffens was music director of the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet from 2016 to 2018. In 2017, Steffens announced his intention to stand down early from the Den Norske Opera and Ballet post, owing to conflicts with then-incoming artistic director Annilese Miskimmon. Gianandrea Noseda (born 23 April 1964, Sesto San Giovanni, Italy) is an Italian conductor. Biography Noseda studied piano and composition in Milan. He began conducting studies at age 27. He furthered his conducting studies with Donato Renzetti, Myung-Whun Chung and Valery Gergiev. His professional conducting debut was in 1994 with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. In 1994, Noseda won the Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition and became principal conductor of the Cadaqués Orchestra in the same year. He became principal guest conductor at the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg in 1997. The BBC Philharmonic is a national British broadcasting symphony orchestra and is one of five radio orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
