Partisan Records
Partisan Records is an independent record label with offices in London and Los Angeles, as well as in New York City, where the company was co-founded in 2007 by Tim Putnam and Ian Wheeler. The label, initially run out of Putnam’s South Brooklyn apartment, relocated in 2009 to their flagship office in Williamsburg where they still reside. Holy Sons (‘Decline Of The West’) was the first release on the label, and early success followed shortly thereafter with the release of Deer Tick (‘War Elephant’). In 2008, while working as the Night Manager for The Knitting Factory venue at their Leonard St. location in Manhattan, Putnam was approached by Knitting Factory Entertainment CEO Morgan Margolis to form a strategic partnership with Partisan. Together they've reissued the Fela Kuti catalogue and revived their label, Knitting Factory Records, which also includes Grammy Award-nominated members of the Kuti family, Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti. ''Ultra Mono'' is the third studio album by British rock band Idles, released on 25 September 2020 by Partisan Records. Following on from their previous album '' Joy as an Act of Resistance'', the album further explores themes established in the band's previous works such as critique of capitalism, revolution, class struggle, mental health and toxic masculinity, as well as the positive and negative aspects of the band's newfound fame. The record was supported by five singles prior to its release, the first of which was the promotional single "Mr. Motivator", released on 19 May 2020. Just Mustard
Just Mustard are an Irish rock band. They formed in Dundalk in County Louth in 2016. Career Their debut album, ''Wednesday'', was released in 2018 through Pizza Pizza Records. Self-produced and recorded by the band in their home studio in Dundalk and in Start Together Studios, Belfast, with recording engineer Chris Ryan, ''Wednesday'' was nominated for the Choice Music Prize in 2018. In 2020, the band signed to Brooklyn-based label Partisan Records, which released their sophomore album, ''Heart Under'', in May 2022. John Grant (musician)
John William Grant (born July 25, 1968) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter who holds both American and Icelandic citizenship. He came to prominence as the co-founder, lead singer, pianist, and primary songwriter for the alternative rock band the Czars. After releasing six studio albums from 1994 to 2006, the band split up and Grant took a break from music before starting a solo career in 2010. Geese are an American rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. The band is composed of Dominic DiGesu, Cameron Winter, Max Bassin, Gus Green and Foster Hudson. History Formation and early years The band formed in 2016 while the members were attending Brooklyn Friends School and Little Red School House in New York City. During high school, the band practiced and recorded material in the basement of Bassin's home in Fort Greene. Ezra Collective is a British jazz quintet composed of drummer and bandleader Femi Koleoso, bassist TJ Koleoso, keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones, trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi, and tenor saxophonist James Mollison. Cymande
Cymande (pronounced ) is a British funk group that was originally active in the early 1970s. The band name derives from a calypso word for "dove", which symbolises peace and love; "Dove" is also the title of one of their best-known songs. With a membership deriving from several Caribbean nations, Cymande were noted for an eclectic mix of funk, soul, reggae, rock, African music, calypso, and jazz that they called "nyah-rock". Cigarettes After Sex is an American dream pop band formed in El Paso, Texas, in 2008 by Greg Gonzalez. The band is known for their ethereal, limerent and often dream-like musical style, lyrics often based on the themes of romance and love, as well as Gonzalez's voice, which has been described as "androgynous".
