Cássia Eller
Cássia Rejane Eller (Portuguese: /ˈkasjɐ ʁeˈʒɐni ˈɛleʁ/) (December 10, 1962 – December 29, 2001) was a Brazilian singer and musician. She came to prominence in the early 1990s and performed a mix of rock and MPB. Eller released five studio albums in her lifetime: '' Cássia Eller'' (1990), '' O Marginal'' (1992), '' Cássia Eller'' (1994), '' Veneno AntiMonotonia'' (1997) and '' Com Você... Meu Mundo Ficaria Completo'' (1999). Her sixth studio album, ''Dez de Dezembro'' (2002) was released posthumously. Eller's most successful album was '' Acústico MTV – Cássia Eller'' (2001), selling over 1 million copies. Sandra De Sá
Sandra Cristina Frederico de Sá (born August 27, 1955) is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. Sandra was born in the Pilares neighborhood, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the daughter of Jurema and Nonô de Sá. Sandra's maternal grandfather, Manoel, was from Cabo Verde. According to a DNA test, Sandra is 96.7% Black African, 2.1% European, and 1.1% Amerindian. Alcione Nazareth
Alcione Dias Nazareth (born November 21, 1947) is also known as, "Alcione", and "A Marrom" (English: "the brown one") is a Brazilian samba singer. She first gained international recognition in the late 1970 and has had nineteen gold records, as well as five platinum and double platinum records. In 1987, she dedicated the song ''João de Deus'' (John of God) to Pope John Paul II and 500,000 people during his second visit to Brazil. Biography She was born in São Luís, Maranhão. Mário Sousa Marques Filho, better known as Noite Ilustrada (April 10, 1928 – July 28, 2003) was a Brazilian singer-songwriter and guitarist. The nickname was given by Zé Trindade, who commanded the musical revue ''Noite Ilustrada'' in Além Paraíba, Minas Gerais, where the young Mario began his career as a guitarist. Guilherme de Brito Bollhorst (January 3, 1922 – April 28, 2006), known as Guilherme de Brito, was a Brazilian '' sambista'', singer, songwriter, and painter. Biography Guilherme de Brito Bollhorst was born in Vila Isabel, a traditional neighborhood with regard to samba, the home of 12 years older Noel Rosa, with whom he was acquainted and who often gave him rides on his car. Brito was the son of Alfredo Nicolau Bollhorst and Marieta de Brito Bollhorst. Guilherme de Brito got a cavaquinho as a present when he was eight; later he became also a '' violonista''. Edson Cordeiro (born February 9, 1967) is a Brazilian sopranist countertenor and pop and jazz singer. Life and career Cordeiro was born in Santo André, São Paulo, Brazil. He began singing at 6 years old when he joined a church choir called "Cordeirinhos do Senhor". He became famous as a street singer. He had his first TV performance with his own version of the aria of the " Queen of the Night" ( W. A. Mozart). In 1996, he won the Prêmio Sharp for the best Brazilian pop singer. "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" is a song recorded by the English rock band the Rolling Stones. A product of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards' songwriting partnership, it features a guitar riff by Richards that opens and drives the song. The riff by Richards is widely considered one of the greatest hooks of all time. The song lyrics refer to sexual frustration and commercialism. Nação Zumbi
Nação Zumbi (formerly Chico Science & Nação Zumbi) is a Brazilian band formed by Chico Science. They have been hailed as one of the most important groups to come out of the manguebeat movement in the 1990s. The musicians of the group continued as Nação Zumbi after Chico died in a car accident on February 2, 1997. In their songs they experiment with mixing of rock, punk, funk, hip hop, soul, Pernambuco's regional rhythms and Brazilian traditional music, with heavy use of percussion instruments. Barão Vermelho
Barão Vermelho () is a Brazilian rock band. Formed in 1981 in Rio de Janeiro, it was originally led by songwriting duo Cazuza (singer) and Roberto Frejat (guitarist), who assumed the vocals after Cazuza's departure in 1985. Frejat left the band in 2017 and was replaced by Rodrigo Suricato. They are considered one of the most influential bands in Brazilian rock. Herbert Vianna
Herbert Lemos de Sousa Vianna (born May 4, 1961) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer mainly known for his work with rock band Os Paralamas do Sucesso. Biography Herbert was born in João Pessoa, Paraíba. His father was from the military and, because of that, he moved to Brasília when he was still a child. There he met band member Bi Ribeiro. When they moved to Rio de Janeiro, they formed Os Paralamas do Sucesso (some still consider them part of the "Brasília gang", along with Capital Inicial and Legião Urbana) with their friend Vital Dias playing drums. Herbert's brother is the Brazilian anthropologist and cultural researcher Hermano Vianna. After Vital was replaced by João Barone, Herbert wrote the song "Vital e Sua Moto", to pay homage to his friend.
