Part Company
"Part Company" is a song by the Australian alternative rock band The Go-Betweens that was released as the first single from their third album ''Spring Hill Fair''. The single was issued in August 1984 by Sire Records with "Just a King in Mirrors" as the B-side. In the UK a 12" single was also released on Sire. The single failed to make an impact on the charts. In November 1983 the band recorded a number of demos commissioned by Rough Trade for their third album, at Pathway Studios, with producer John Brand. Note: nlineversion has limited functionality. "Newton Told Me" was re-recorded after originally being considered as a B-side for "Man O'Sand to Girl O'Sea" and recorded by the band in May 1983. The Go-Betweens
The Go-Betweens were an Australian indie rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland, in 1977. The band was co-founded and led by singer-songwriters and guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, who were its only constant members throughout its existence. Drummer Lindy Morrison joined the band in 1980, and its lineup would later expand to include bass guitarist Robert Vickers and multi-instrumentalist Amanda Brown. Vickers was replaced by John Willsteed in 1987, and the quintet lineup remained in place until the band split two years later. Forster and McLennan reformed the band in 2000 with a new lineup that did not include any previous personnel aside from them. McLennan died on 6 May 2006 of a heart attack and the Go-Betweens disbanded again. In 2010, a toll bridge in their native Brisbane was renamed the Go Between Bridge after them. MusicBrainz is a MetaBrainz project that aims to create a collaborative music database that is similar to the freedb project. MusicBrainz was founded in response to the restrictions placed on the Compact Disc Database (CDDB), a database for software applications to look up audio CD information on the Internet. MusicBrainz has expanded its goals to reach beyond a CD metadata (this is information about the performers, artists, songwriters, etc.) storehouse to become a structured online database for music. Robert Vickers
Robert Vickers (born 25 November 1958, Brisbane, Australia) is an Australian bass guitarist, who is best known as a member of the Australian musical group The Go-Betweens. Vickers visited London, England in 1977, and returned to Brisbane to join his first band, Neon Steel. The group quickly changed their name to The Numbers and ultimately became best known as The Riptides. In 1979, he left Brisbane to live in New York City where he joined The Colors. The Colors were managed by Hilly Kristal, owner of rock club CBGB, and produced by Blondie drummer Clem Burke. During this time he briefly returned to Brisbane to act in a film titled ''Heather’s Gloves,'' directed by Robin Gold and written by Grant McLennan of The Go-Betweens. In January 1983, Vickers left New York and The Colors to join The Go-Betweens in London where they were signed to Rough Trade Records. ''Blood on the Tracks'' is the fifteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, released on January 20, 1975, by Columbia Records. The album marked Dylan's return to Columbia Records after a two-album stint with Asylum Records. Dylan began recording the album in New York City in September 1974. In December, shortly before Columbia was due to release the album, Dylan abruptly re-recorded much of the material in a studio in Minneapolis. The final album contains five tracks recorded in New York and five from Minneapolis. ''Blood on the Tracks'' initially received mixed reviews, but has subsequently been acclaimed as one of Dylan's greatest albums by both critics and fans.
