Part (mathematics)
Mereology (; from Greek μέρος 'part' (root: μερε-, ''mere-'') and the suffix ''-logy'', 'study, discussion, science') is the philosophical study of part-whole relationships, also called ''parthood relationships''. As a branch of metaphysics, mereology examines the connections between parts and their wholes, exploring how components interact within a system. This theory has roots in ancient philosophy, with significant contributions from Plato, Aristotle, and later, medieval and Renaissance thinkers like Thomas Aquinas and John Duns Scotus. Mereology was formally axiomatized in the 20th century by Polish logician Stanisław Leśniewski, who introduced it as part of a comprehensive framework for logic and mathematics, and coined the word "mereology". Mereological ideas were influential in early , and formal mereology has continued to be used by a minority in works on the . Different axiomatizations of mereology have been applied in , used in to analyze "mass terms", use ...

In 1998, it won the "Tellable" Stories for Ages 4–7 Award (Storytelling World) and in 1999, the Colorado Children's Book Award. Plot summary The story is aimed at 4-7 year-olds. It was inspired by a real life experience, when the author's young son, Walter, was disturbed by losing his first tooth.Keller, James (2001), p. 10. The protagonist of ''Parts'' is young Chip Block, who notices that some of his hairs remain on his comb, lint is appearing in his navel, his skin is peeling, and a piece of mucus (which he assumes is a piece of his brain) falls out of his nose. His anxiety reaches its peak when he discovers one of his teeth is coming loose. Convinced tha ...

Part (music)
A part in music refers to a component of a musical composition. Because there are multiple ways to separate these components, there are several contradictory senses in which the word "part" is used: * any individual melody (or voice), whether vocal or instrumental, that can be abstracted as continuous and independent from other notes being performed simultaneously in polyphony. Within the music played by a single pianist, one can often identify outer parts (the top and bottom parts) or an inner part (those in between). On the other hand, within a choir, "outer parts" and "inner parts" would refer to music performed by different singers. (See ) * the musical instructions for any individual instrument or voice (often given as a handwritten, printed, or digitized document) of sheet music (as opposed to the full score which shows all parts of the ensemble in the same document). A musician's part usually does not contain instructions for the other players in the ensemble, only ...

Part (bibliography)
A volume is a physical book. It may be printed or Codex, handwritten. The term is commonly used to identify a single book that is part of a larger collection. Volumes are typically identified sequence, sequentially with Roman numerals, Roman or Arabic numerals, e.g. "volume III" or "volume 3", commonly abbreviated to "Vol.". Volumes may be published directly, or they may be created out of multiple bookbinding, bound issues. For instance, a library that subscribes to a periodical literature, periodical and wishes to preserve it typically takes a set of the issue (periodicals), issues and has them bound into a volume. A publishing, publisher may also separately publish a volume out of previously published issues; this is common with graphic novels. Part Number
A part number (often abbreviated PN, P/N, part no., or part #) is an identifier of a particular part design or material used in a particular industry. Its purpose is to simplify reference that item. A part number unambiguously identifies a part design within a single corporation, sometimes across several corporations. For example, when specifying a screw, it is easier to refer to "HSC0424PP" than saying "Hardware, screw, machine, 4-40, 3/4" long, pan head, Phillips". In this example, "HSC0424PP" is the part number. It may be prefixed in database fields as "PN HSC0424PP" or "P/N HSC0424PP". The "Part Number" term is often used loosely to refer to items or components (assemblies or parts), and it's equivalent to "Item Number", and overlaps with other terms like SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). The part design versus instantiations of it As a part number is an identifier of a part ''design'' (independent of its instantiations), a serial number is a unique identifier of ''a p ...
