Parrish, Florida
Parrish is an unincorporated community in northwestern Manatee County, Florida, United States. The community is located near the intersection of U.S. 301 and State Road 62 and is part of the North Port–Sarasota–Bradenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Parrish contains the Florida Railroad Museum, which operates weekend passenger rides round trip from Parrish about northeast to Willow. Climate History The first "settler" in the area would be William B. Hooker and William H. Johnson who established a plantation named Oak Hill in 1850 with an attempt being made to grow sea-island cotton but this effort failed. This plantation would burn down in the Seminole War but the area would continue to be referred to as Oak Hill. William Turner would make a homestead at Oak Hill in 1865 but only stayed for a few years before establishing Bradenton. He would sell the property to the Parish family in 1868. Parrish is an unincorporated community in Cave Township, Franklin County, Illinois, United States. The community is located near Illinois Route 34 west-northwest of Thompsonville. History Once a larger town, Parrish was destroyed by the Tri-State Tornado in 1925. The town, which consisted of roughly 250 residents and 40 buildings at the time, suffered a 27% casualty rate and lost all but three of its buildings: one house, the Primitive Methodist Church, and the Parrish School. Tri-State Tornado
On March 18, 1925, one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks in recorded history generated at least twelve significant tornadoes and spanned a large portion of the midwestern and southern United States. In all, at least 751 people were killed and more than 2,298 were injured, making the outbreak the deadliest tornado outbreak, March 18 the deadliest tornado day, and 1925 the deadliest tornado year in U.S. history. The outbreak generated several destructive tornadoes in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana on the same day, as well as significant tornadoes in Alabama and Kansas. Parrish is a town in Langlade County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 91 at the 2010 census, down from 108 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated community of Parrish is located in the town. Geography Parrish occupies the northwest corner of Langlade County; it is bordered to the north by Oneida County and to the west by Lincoln County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which are land and , or 0.98%, are water. The town is drained by the west-flowing Prairie River, a tributary of the Wisconsin River. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 108 people, 41 households, and 35 families residing in the town. The population density was 3.0 people per square mile (1.1/km). Parrish Creek
Parrish Creek is a stream in Davis County, Utah, United States. The creek begins at a spring about south-southeast of Bountiful Peak in the Wasatch Range at an elevation of approximately . It flows southwest to a point in the foothills northeast of the eastern end of Parrish Lane (400 North) in Centerville. Parrish Creek was named after Samuel Parrish, a pioneer settler in the area. The creek and the community had originally been named Duel, after a pair brothers that were settlers in the area. (However, the name of the community was later changed to Cherry Creek, and then Centerville, while the name of the creek was changed to Parrish.) After settling along the steam. ''Parrish'' is the 1958 debut novel by Mildred Savage. The novel was originally published in hardback by Simon & Schuster in 1958. The novel is a bildungsroman of a young man, the titular Parrish Maclean, as he works his way out of the grueling work in Connecticut River Valley tobacco fields during the 1940s and 1950s. The novel was adapted into a 1961 film, which starred Troy Donahue as the title character as well as Claudette Colbert and Karl Malden. ''Parrish'' is a 1961 American drama film made by Warner Bros. It was written, produced and directed by Delmer Daves, based on Mildred Savage's 1958 novel of the same name. The music score was by Max Steiner, the Technicolor cinematography by Harry Stradling Sr., the art direction by Leo K. Kuter and the costume design by Howard Shoup. The film stars Troy Donahue, Claudette Colbert (in her final theatrical film role), Karl Malden, Dean Jagger, Connie Stevens, Diane McBain, Sharon Hugueny, Sylvia Miles, Madeleine Sherwood and Hayden Rorke.
