Matteo Paro (born 17 March 1983) is an Italian former footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Juventus Paro made his Serie A debut on 17 May 2003, in a 2–1 loss to Reggina. David E. Parro (born April 30, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Parro was drafted at 34th overall by the Boston Bruins. Parro was the first goalie selected in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft. Before getting the chance to play for Boston, Parro was claimed by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1979 NHL Expansion Draft. Two days later, the Nordiques traded him to the Washington Capitals. After remaining in the Capitals' organization until 1984, Parro spent several seasons in the International Hockey League before retiring. The Paro Chhu is a river of western Bhutan. It is a tributary of the Wong Chhu, which is known as the Raidak in its lower reaches. Course The Paro Chhu rises to the south of Chomo Lhari (mountain of the Goddess). Its glacial waters plunge torrentially through alpine meadows and deep gorges in the Jigme Dorji National Park, and descends into a wide, open, undulating valley. Sub-alpine and temperate forests are found along its middle and lower reaches. A prime trout stream, it nourishes lush green rice fields and apple and peach orchards on its banks. Paro The Paro Chhu flows through the Paro Valley, which is the site of one of Bhutan's main towns, Paro, and many important monasteries. PARO is a therapeutic robot baby harp seal, intended to be very cute and to have a calming effect on and elicit emotional responses in patients of hospitals and nursing homes, similar to animal-assisted therapy except using robots. History Paro was designed by Takanori Shibata of the Intelligent System Research Institute of Japan's AIST beginning in 1993. It was first exhibited to the public in late 2001, costing US$15 million to develop, and became a "Best of COMDEX" finalist in 2003, and handmade versions have been sold commercially by Shibata's company Intelligent System Co. since 2004. Paro is based on harp seals Shibata saw in an ice field in northeastern Canada, where he also recorded their cries in order to use them for Paro's simulated cries.
