Floyd Lavinius Parks
Lieutenant General Floyd Lavinius Parks (9 February 1896 – 10 March 1959) was a United States Army officer who served with distinction during World War II. During the war, he was chief of staff of the US Army Ground Forces and the First Allied Airborne Army. As such, he participated in Operation Market Garden that directed air drops into the Netherlands behind the German lines which were preventing Allied forces from crossing the Rhine river. He commanded the US First Airborne Army in 1945 on his promotion to major general. After the war, Parks commanded the US Sector in Berlin before going to Washington, D.C. to become the chief of the Public Information Division for the Army. Later, he commanded American forces in the United States Army Pacific in 1949. Lyman Parks
Rev. Lyman S. Parks (1917 – November 4, 2009) was the mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1971 to 1976. He was the first African-American to serve in the position. He was also the first African-American elected to the Grand Rapids City Commission in 1968. Recognizing his contributions to the city of Grand Rapids, a statue in his honor was dedicated in 2013 in front of the Grand Rapids City Hall. Lloyd Parks is an American R&B/soul singer born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. He is an original member of the Philadelphia International Records group, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. Lloyd is noted for his high tenor and falsetto vocal leads and harmonies. He is also a founding member of the Epsilons who backed Arthur Conley on his Atco Records hit single "Sweet Soul Music". Early career Parks started his career in music in the mid-1960s performing with various local Philadelphia vocal groups including the Emanons who hit with "One Heart" on "Phila Of Soul" Records. Harry Jeremiah Parks (February 24, 1848 – October 19, 1927) was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of the United States military highest decoration—the Medal of Honor—for his actions in the American Civil War. Life and career Harry Jeremiah Parks, a farm boy from Orangeville, New York, Parks ran away from home twice to join the Union Army. He signed his name as Jeremiah Parks, using his middle name to escape from his father James Parks who had brought him back once before. He mustered in at Lockport, New York, shortly before his 16th birthday and was assigned as a private to Company A of the 9th New York Cavalry. Serving under General Philip Sheridan, Parks rode into battle on October 19, 1864, at Cedar Creek, Virginia, capturing the " Bonnie Blue Flag" and several prisoners. Henry William Parks (18 July 1906 – 7 May 1984) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman whose first-class career with Sussex lasted from 1926 to 1948. In 483 matches he scored 21,725 runs at an average of 33.57, with 42 centuries and a highest score of 200* . He scored 1000 runs in a season 14 times, with a best of 2,122 in 1947. Before World War Two he was a middle-order batsman, but after it he became John Langridge's opening partner.
