Parker Griggs
Parker Griggs is an American psychedelic rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the lead vocalist, guitarist and founder of the rock band Radio Moscow. Career Before the formation of Radio Moscow, Griggs was a fan of Cream, Blue Cheer and Led Zeppelin. He was known under his solo stage name as ''Garbage Composal'' and completed an album's worth of material before finding a bassist named Serana Andersen to form Radio Moscow in 2003. When recording, Griggs would play both guitar and drums. However, the band were known as a trio due to various live drummers joining the band as tour members. After the duo relocated to Colorado, Griggs managed to hand a demo to The Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach. Radio Moscow were then helped by Auerbach in getting signed to Alive Naturalsound Records. Story City, Iowa
Story City is a city in Story County, Iowa. It is located within the Ames, Iowa Metropolitan Statistical Area which envelops the entirety of Story County and combined with the Boone, Iowa Micropolitan Statistical Area makes up the larger Ames-Boone, Iowa Combined Statistical Area. The population was 3,352 in the 2020 census, a slight increase from 3,228 in 2000. History Story City was known as Fairview throughout much of its early history. The named changed in 1881 when the town established a post office and discovered that the Fairview name was already in use for another town. Story City was renamed after Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story. The boundaries of "Old Fairview" are outlined by signs during Scandinavian Days, and is approximately in the northeast corner of current Story City with the southern boundary being Broad Street. ''Brain Cycles'' is the second studio album by American psychedelic rock band Radio Moscow. Released on April 14, 2009, it was the band's first album to feature bassist Zach Anderson, who replaced Luke McDuff in 2007. Issued by Alive Naturalsound, it was recorded at Sound Farm in Jamaica, Iowa and produced by band members Parker Griggs and Anderson. Composition and recording In an interview with ''The A.V. The Jeff Beck Group was a British rock band formed in London in January 1967 by former Yardbirds guitarist Jeff Beck. Their innovative approach to heavy-sounding blues, rhythm and blues and rock was a major influence on popular music. The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman (founder, slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards, songwriting), as well as Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). Ram Jam was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1977, predominantly known for their hit single "Black Betty". Earthless is a mostly instrumental psychedelic rock band from San Diego, California, consisting of guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton and drummer Mario Rubalcaba. The band formed in 2001 and released their first album, ''Sonic Prayer'', through Gravity Records in 2005. Their second album, ''Rhythms from a Cosmic Sky'', was released in 2007 through Tee Pee Records. Mitchell sings occasionally, but the band's music is mostly instrumental and features long semi-improvised songs drawing on classic rock, psychedelic rock, jazz and krautrock. Mario Rubalcaba (also known by the pseudonym Ruby Mars) is an American drummer from San Diego, notable as a member of numerous rock bands including Clikatat Ikatowi, Thingy, Rocket from the Crypt, Hot Snakes, Earthless, the Sultans, and Off! He has also played on albums by The Black Heart Procession and Pinback and was formerly a professional skateboarder. Skateboarding career In the late 1980s and early 1990s Rubalcaba was a professional skateboarder, skating for Team Alva. Though he no longer skates professionally, he does work at Black Box, a skateboarding distribution company and skate park in San Diego. Musical career Rubalcaba's drumming career began in 1990 with the San Diego post-hardcore band 411.
