Park Foundation
The Park Foundation is an American nonprofit foundation founded in 1966 by entrepreneur and media mogul Roy H. Park. The foundation supports a variety of liberal and environmental causes, and has been a major supporter of the anti-fracking movement as well as education. From 2009 to 2012, the foundation gave over $3 million to dozens of advocacy groups and other institutions that oppose fracking, including $175,000 to produce the documentary ''Gasland''. In 2013, the foundation gave $50 million to endow the Park Scholarships program at North Carolina State University. Roy H
Roy H (foaled April 22, 2012) is a Thoroughbred racehorse who is the two time winner of the Breeders' Cup Sprint. He was named the American Champion Sprint Horse of 2017 and 2018. He did not start racing until age three, when he won only one race, and he was winless at age four. In 2017 at age five however, he developed into the best sprinter in North America by winning the True North Stakes, Santa Anita Sprint Championship and Breeders' Cup Sprint. In 2018, he defended his wins in the Breeders' Cup Sprint and Santa Anita Sprint Championship, plus finished second in the Bing Crosby Stakes and third in the Dubai Golden Shaheen. Ithaca is a city in the Finger Lakes region of New York, United States. Fracking (also known as hydraulic fracturing, hydrofracturing, or hydrofracking) is a well stimulation technique involving the fracturing of bedrock formations by a pressurized liquid. The process involves the high-pressure injection of "fracking fluid" (primarily water, containing sand or other proppants suspended with the aid of thickening agents) into a wellbore to create cracks in the deep-rock formations through which natural gas, petroleum, and brine will flow more freely. Park Scholarships
The Park Scholarships program is an undergraduate scholarship program in the United States. The mission of the program is "to bring exceptional students to North Carolina State University based on outstanding accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character." The program develops Park Scholars in these four tenets to prepare them for lifelong contributions to the campus, state, nation, and world. The Park Scholarships program is named for the late Roy H. Park ’31, an NC State alumnus who endowed the Park Foundation, dedicated to education, media, and the environment.
