Parityakta
''Parityakta'' () is a Nepali language novel by Bhuwan Dhungana. It was published on June 28, 2020 by Nepa~laya Publication. It was nominated for Madan Puraskar for the year 2076 BS, one of the most prestigious literary award in Nepal. Synopsis The book shows the inner thoughts of a woman in a patriarchal Nepali society and how she deals with loneliness. It is written in first person stream of consciousness narrative. Release It is the first novel of the writer who has been active in the Nepali literary scene since 1970. The release of the book was delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The book was launched as a part of 2020 series of Nepalaya publication which featured books of four women writers. Bhuwan Dhungana
Bhuwan Dhungana (; born 2 August 1947) is a Nepali writer and poet. She is best known for her short story ''The Thousand Rupee Note'' which has also been translated into English and Urdu. Her first novel '' Parityakta'' was published in 2020. Early life and education She was born as Bhuwan Koirala on 2 August 1947 (18 Shrawan 2004 BS) in Biratnagar city of eastern Nepal in a political family. Although born to a political family, she was never attracted towards the world of politics. She received her primary education from Varanasi, India and secondary education from Biratnagar. She received a Diploma in Law from Ratna Rajya Lakshmi Campus, Kathmandu. Through Colombo plan, she received scholarship to attend Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, West Bengal. In the university, she studied Manipuri dance for three years. She received a Diploma in Manipuri dance and Bengali literature in 1971. ''Singha Durbarko Ghumne Mech'' () is a memoir by Dr. Sudha Sharma. Dr. Sharma is an Obstetrician and Gynecologist by profession and served as Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) from October 2008 to December 2011. Synopsis The book is based on the author's struggle against patriarchal society and bureaucracy of Nepal. It chronicles Dr. Sharma's role as one of the few women secretaries in the government after the 2006 revolution. The book spans over six and a half decades of the author's life. ''Dumero'' () is a Nepali novel by Sarala Gautam. It was published on July 31, 2020 by Nepa~laya Publication. This is the debut book of the author who is a journalist and has been covering socio-political issues in her articles. Synopsis It is a coming-of-age story a girl from a small town in Nepal and her struggle to find an identity in this world. The book is about a girl called Simran and her wandering aspirations. Simran is a radio journalist but without earning much experience, she joins television. She starts working as an actress in television shows. Without much acting experience, she wins a national award in acting. She becomes a well-known actress and her demand increases in the industry due to which her ego slowly increases. The Madan Puraskar ( ne, मदन पुरस्कार) is a literary honor in Nepal which Madan Puraskar Guthi confers annually for an outstanding book in the Nepali language published within the calendar year.
