Paris Opera Awards
The Paris Opera Awards (POA) is an international contest for opera singers held in Paris, France. It is held under the patronage of the French representation at the European Commission. History The first edition of POA was launched in March 2012. It allowed 78 opera singers from all over the world to participate. The 50 best results were reviewed by the panel of judges. The ten finalists, five of each gender, auditioned for the judges at the Salle Gaveau in Paris on January 4, 2013. of Radio Classique was the host. The gala was dedicated to Maria Callas. Objective This award is an international competition for opera singers. It aims to help showcase opera singers to the professional opera world and to the Parisian public. The contest is open to all opera singers aged 18 or older. It is open to the following voice types: soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, countertenor, tenor, baritone, and bass (voice type), bass. Opera

Martina Arroyo
Martina Arroyo (born February 2, 1937) is an American operatic soprano who had a major international opera career from the 1960s through the 1980s. She was part of the first generation of black opera singers to achieve wide success. Arroyo first rose to prominence at the Zurich Opera between 1963 and 1965, and then was one of the Metropolitan Opera's leading sopranos between 1965 and 1978. During those years at the Metropolitan Opera, she was also a regular presence at the world's opera houses, performing on the stages of La Scala, Covent Garden, the Opéra National de Paris, the Teatro Colón, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Vienna State Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the San Francisco Opera. She is best known for her performances of the Italian spinto repertoire, and in particular, her portrayals of Verdi and Puccini heroines. Cité De La Musique
The Cité de la Musique ("City of Music"), also known as Philharmonie 2, is a group of institutions dedicated to music and situated in the Parc de la Villette, 19th arrondissement of Paris, France. It was designed with the nearby Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) by the architect Christian de Portzamparc and opened in 1995. Part of François Mitterrand's Grands Projets, the Cité de la Musique reinvented La Villette – the former slaughterhouse district. It consists of an amphitheater, a concert hall that can accommodate an audience of 800–1,000, a music museum containing an important collection of music instruments from different cultural traditions, dating mainly from the fifteenth- to twentieth-century, a music library, exhibition halls and workshops. Sam Roberts-Smith
Sam Roberts-Smith (born 30 December 1985) is an Australian operatic baritone who has performed with the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera Australia, West Australian Opera, the Ten Tenors, Sydney Philharmonia, Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, West Australian Symphony Orchestra and various other opera companies in Australia and overseas. Career Roberts-Smith was born in Perth, Western Australia, to Sue and Len Roberts-Smith. He attended Hale School, as did his older brother, Ben Roberts-Smith. He graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2008 where he sang in an alternating cast the role of John Proctor in the Australian premiere of Robert Ward's opera ''The Crucible''. Mary-Jean O'Doherty
Mary-Jean Anaïs O'Doherty is an Australian-American coloratura soprano. She was the first prize winner in the 2013 Paris Opera Awards. Life and career O'Doherty was born in Houston, Texas, to an Australian father and an Armenians, Armenian mother, Eliza Basmadjian, from Greece. She was educated at North Carolina School of the Arts and East Carolina University from which she received her Bachelor of Music degree in voice and flute performance as well as Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2005. She was one of the 20 finalists in the 2006 Operatunity Oz talent search.
