Pargat Singh (cricketer)
Pargat Singh (born 13 April 1992) is an Indian-Canadian cricketer who plays for Canada. He made his first-class debut on 22 October 2015 in the 2015–16 Ranji Trophy. He made his List A debut on 10 December 2015 in the 2015–16 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He made his Twenty20 debut on 2 January 2016 in the 2015–16 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In November 2022, he was named in Canada's T20I squad for the 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series. He made his T20I debut on 14 November 2022, against Bahrain. In March 2023, he was named in Canada's squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut on 27 March 2023, for Canada, against Jersey in that tournament. Rupnagar (; formerly known as Ropar is a city and a municipal council in Rupnagar district in the Indian state of Punjab. Rupnagar is a newly created fifth Divisional Headquarters of Punjab comprising Rupnagar, Mohali, and its adjoining districts. It is also one of the bigger sites belonging to the Indus Valley civilization. Rupnagar is nearly to the northwest of Chandigarh (the nearest airport and the capital of Punjab). The 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off was the inaugural edition of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off, a cricket tournament which formed part of the 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification process. It took place in March and April 2023, with all matches having One Day International (ODI) status, regardless of whether or not a team had ODI status prior to the start of the event. As a result, Jersey played their first ever matches with ODI status. Six teams qualified for the tournament: the bottom four teams from the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 along with the top teams in Groups A and B of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League. 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series
The 2022 Desert Cup T20I Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Oman in November 2022. The participating teams were the hosts Oman along with Bahrain, Canada and Saudi Arabia. The tournament was played as a double round-robin, with the top two sides advancing to the final. The T20I tournament was followed by a three-match 50-over series between Oman and Canada, as the Canadians prepared for the final event of the 2019–2022 ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League in Malaysia in December 2022. Canada finished top of the round-robin, with five wins from six games. They were joined in the final by Oman after Bahrain lost to Saudi Arabia in the last match.
