Sohrab Modi
Sohrab Merwanji Modi (2 November 1897 – 28 January 1984) was an Indian stage and film actor, director and producer. His films include ''Khoon Ka Khoon'' (1935), a version of Shakespeare's ''Hamlet'', '' Sikandar'', ''Pukar'', ''Prithvi Vallabh'', ''Jhansi ki Rani'', ''Mirza Ghalib'', Jailor and ''Nausherwan-E-Adil'' (1957). His films always carried a message of strong commitment to social and national issues. Early life Sohrab Merwanji Modi was born 2 November 1897 in Bombay. After finishing school, he became travelling exhibitor in Gwalior with his brother Keki Modi. At 16 he used project films in Gwalior's Town Hall and at 26 set up his Arya Subhodh Theatrical Company. Sohrab began as a Parsi theatre actor with some experience in silent films. Mehtab (actress)
Mehtab (1913–1997) was an Indian actress of Hindi/Urdu films who worked from 1928 to 1969. She was born in Sachin, Gujarat, to a Muslim family and named Najma. Her father, Nawab Sidi Ibrahim Mohammad Yakut Khan III, was the Nawab of Sachin, near Surat in the state of Gujarat. Starting her career in the late 1920s with small roles in films like ''Second Wife'' (1928), ''Indira B. A.'' (1929) and ''Jayant'' (1929), she went on to do character roles before acting in the lead opposite Ashraf Khan in ''Veer Kunal'' (1932). After almost a decade of doing mainly action-oriented roles, she came into prominence with the Kidar Sharma-directed '' Chitralekha'' (1941). She married her early co-star Ashraf Khan with whom she had a son. They divorced later and she married Sohrab Modi in 1946. Yakub (actor)
Yakub Khan (3 April 1903 – 24 August 1958), known as Yakub, was an Indian actor born into a Pathan family in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is best known for his comic and comic villainous roles. He began his career with roles as an extra, but eventually was cast in more important roles, frequently playing the parts of heroes and villains. He became one of the most renowned screen villains, while achieving equal success in comedy and character roles. Yakub appeared in over 100 films. Early life Yakub ran away from home at an early age, and performed odd jobs, such as a motor mechanic and table waiter, before joining the crew of the ship S.S. Madura as a kitchen worker. He left the ship after travelling to various places, like London, Brussels and Paris, then returned to Calcutta, where he worked as a tourist guide, among other jobs. Saraswati Devi (music Director)
Saraswati Devi, born Khorshed Minocher-Homji (1912 – 9 August 1980), was an Indian director of music and score composer who worked in Hindi cinema in the 1930s and 1940s. She is most noted for her score, ''Mein Ban ki Chiriyra Banke Bun Bun Bolun Re'' in Bombay Talkies's '' Achut Kanya'' (1936). She along with Nargis' mother & Sanjay Dutt's grandmother Jaddanbai is considered to be one of the first female music composers in Indian cinema. Realising this her father made her study Hindustani classical music under Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande who was specialised in Dhrupad and Dhamar style of singing.
