Paradise Lost (Cirith Ungol Album)
''Paradise Lost'' is the fourth studio album by American heavy metal band Cirith Ungol. It was released on August 23, 1991 by Restless Records in the United States, Canada and Greece, and re-released as a bootleg several times. The band broke up in 1992 over unresolved issues with their new record label. It was finally officially re-released in 2007/08 on Noble Rot. According to band member Robert Garven: Restless Records did nothing for the band in the way of promotion or touring. They had me contact Roadrunner Records in Europe (who released our first 2 records) to try to convince them to release ''Paradise Lost'' in Europe. The owner, I think was named Cess Wessels or something, refused to release it saying that it was outdated. It is funny as it is the CD that everyone wants and it is still unavailable! Cirith Ungol (band)
Cirith Ungol is an American heavy metal band formed in late 1971 in Ventura, California. This early doom and power metal group is known for lyrics based on fantasy (particularly sword and sorcery). The band took their name from the mountain pass Cirith Ungol in J. R. R. Tolkien's epic fantasy novel, ''The Lord of the Rings''. Throughout the 1970s, the band generally played a style of heavy metal heavily rooted in hard and progressive rock. Its first studio album, '' Frost and Fire'' (1981), featured a heavier sound, generally regarded as an early example of American power metal. By its second studio album, '' King of the Dead'' (1984), it had solidified its power metal style while gravitating toward a much "darker" sound, with many considering the album among the first doom metal releases. Bootleg Recording
A bootleg recording is an audio or video recording of a performance not officially released by the artist or under other legal authority. Making and distributing such recordings is known as ''bootlegging''. Recordings may be copied and traded among fans without financial exchange, but some bootleggers have sold recordings for profit, sometimes by adding professional-quality sound engineering and packaging to the raw material. Bootlegs usually consist of unreleased studio recordings, live performances or interviews without the quality control of official releases. Vincent Crane
Vincent Rodney Cheesman (21 May 194314 February 1989), known professionally as Vincent Crane, was an English keyboardist, best known as the organist for the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Atomic Rooster. Crane co-wrote "Fire", the 1968 hit single by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Biography Born Vincent Rodney Cheesman in Reading, Berkshire, he taught himself boogie woogie piano as a teenager before attending Trinity College of Music between 1961 and 1964. Influenced by Graham Bond, he took up Hammond organ. In late 1966 he formed the Vincent Crane Combo, which comprised bass player Binky McKenzie, sax player John Claydon and drummer Gordon Hadler. "Fire" is a 1968 song written by Arthur Brown, Vincent Crane, Mike Finesilver and Peter Ker. Performed by the Crazy World of Arthur Brown, it was released as a single and on the band's debut album, also called ''The Crazy World of Arthur Brown''. The single became a transatlantic hit, reaching number one in the UK and Canada and number two in the United States, while hitting the top 10 in markets across Europe. ''Servants of Chaos'' is a compilation album by American heavy metal band Cirith Ungol, released under Metal Blade Records on September 5, 2001. The album was released during the band's hiatus (which lasted from 1992–2016), and contains content from all four of their studio albums ( Frost and Fire, King of the Dead, One Foot in Hell, and Paradise Lost), their 1979 self-titled demo, as well as previously unreleased live recordings of the band throughout the years. The original release of the album contains 31 tracks, on two CD's. The album was re-released on vinyl on November 21, 2011. The album was re-released once again on January 31, 2012, with the addition of a bonus DVD-video of a live performance on November 9, 1984, at the Wolf & Rissmiller's Country Club—which was located in the Reseda neighborhood of Los Angeles.
