The Canoe Sprint women's KL2 event at the 2020 Paralympic Games took place on 2 and 4 September 2021. Two initial heats were held. Winners advanced directly to the final. The rest went into one of two semifinals, where the top three in each semifinal also advanced to the final. Kaitlyn Verfuerth
Kaitlyn Louise Verfeurth (born 12 August 1985) is a paracanoe athlete. She is a former American people, American wheelchair tennis player who competed in international level events. Verfuerth sustained an L2 incomplete spinal cord injury aged seven when she was involved in a car accident in 1993. She spent 96 days hospitalised in Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee and then two months of bed rest. Verfuerth competed in wheelchair tennis at the 2004, 2008 and 2016 Paralympic Games. She retired after 2016 Paralympic Games due to the travel demand for tennis players. However, she picked up paracanoe in 2017 after meeting United States' paracanoe coach during the 2016 Games. Susan Seipel (born 4 April 1986) is an Australian Para-canoeist, a gold and bronze medallist in kayak and outrigger canoe at the 2015 and 2016 World Championships. She won a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympics and a silver medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Personal Seipel, a Bellbowrie resident of Queensland, was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex, a rare disorder characterised by fusion of joints and absent muscle formation in her legs. Charlotte Sarah Henshaw (born 16 January 1987) is a British Paralympic full-time athlete across multiple disciplines. Originally a swimmer, she changed to canoeing from 2017, becoming the reigning World champion in the KL2 (three-time) and VL3 (two-time) 200m events. In September 2021, at the delayed 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, she became a Paralympic champion at her fourth games, winning the Women's KL2 event. Henshaw was recruited to the British Paracanoe team in June 2021, specialising in KL2 Kayak, and VL3 Va'a events. Previously a swimmer specialising in 100 metres breaststroke SB6, Henshaw was a European champion and Paralympic medalist from the early 2010's.
