Anna Hélène Paquin ( ; born 24 July 1982) is a New Zealand actress. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington, Paquin made her acting debut portraying Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film ''The Piano'' (1993), for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at age 11, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. Ethan Paquin is an American poet and a native of New Hampshire. Biography Ethan Paquin grew up in Londonderry, New Hampshire. He earned a BA in English/writing from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire, and his MFA in creative writing from the MFA Program for Poets & Writers, University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is founding editor of the online literary journal ''Slope,'' which he launched in 1999, and co-founded with Christopher Janke the nonprofit poetry press Slope Editions in 2001. He previously taught at Plymouth State University, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Medaille College in Buffalo, New York, and in the writing program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Ethan presently lives in rural Mississippi. Jeanne Paquin
Jeanne Paquin () (1869–1936) was a leading French fashion designer, known for her resolutely modern and innovative designs. She was the first major female couturier and one of the pioneers of the modern fashion business. Early life Jeanne Paquin was born Jeanne Marie Charlotte Beckers in 1869. Her father was a physician. She was one of five children. Sent out to work as a young teenager, Jeanne trained as a dressmaker at Rouff (a Paris couture house established in 1884 and located on Boulevard Haussmann). She quickly rose through to ranks becoming première, in charge of the atelier. In 1891, Jeanne Marie Charlotte Beckers married Isidore René Jacob, who was also known as Paquin. Leo Paquin (June 15, 1910 – December 2, 1993) was an American football player. He played end (American football), end for Fordham University as part of the 1936 line known as the "Seven Blocks of Granite". After graduating from Fordham, he eschewed a professional football career in favor of a 40-year career as a high school football coach and teacher. Biography Paquin grew up in Brockton, Massachusetts, and he attended Fordham University where he played college football as an end (American football), end. While there, he roomed with another Fordham lineman, Vince Lombardi. As a senior in 1936, Paquin played as the left end on the Fordham line known as the "Seven Blocks of Granite". That line was actually the second one to bear that name. Hot Hot Heat is a Canadian indie rock band from Victoria, British Columbia, formed in 1999. The band was signed by Seattle label Sub Pop in 2001 and released its first EP, ''Knock Knock Knock'', and first full-length album, ''Make Up the Breakdown'', the following year. The band released five full-length albums, the last being the self-titled ''Hot Hot Heat'' in 2016. The band's style makes use of electronic and traditional instruments and has variously been categorized as dance-punk, post-punk revival, new wave, and art-punk. They made an appearance on ''Yo Gabba Gabba!'', with the song, "Time to Go Outdoors". It was featured on the "Talent" episode. Marie-Thérèse Paquin, was born July 4, 1905, in Montreal, Quebec, and died in the same city on May 9, 1997. She was a concert pianist and piano professor. Biography Paquin studied piano with Alfred La Liberté. She had a brilliant career as a member of a quartet for 20 years. She was pianist for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra from 1936 to 1964. Miss Canada is a beauty pageant for young women in Canada. It was founded in Hamilton in 1946. No title was awarded from 1993 through 2008. The trademark was purchased in 2009 by a Québec organization who produces the pageant under the name to this day. According to the new Miss Canada and Miss Teen Canada web site, the title was re-established with a focus on personality over physical appearance. The Miss Canada competition is Canada's oldest extant beauty pageant. Winnifred Blair of Saint John, New Brunswick was proclaimed the first "Miss Canada" on 11 February 1923 at an earlier, unrelated competition during the Montreal Winter Carnival. Patricia Paquin (born October 25, 1968, in Montreal, Quebec) is a television personality from Quebec. She also is an activist against muscular dystrophy. Born October 25, 1968, in Montreal, she is the daughter of Marcel Paquin (born 1935) and Gisèle Matteau-Paquin (born 1935).
