Papy Abedi
Mwimbi Papy Abedi (born June 30, 1978) is a Congolese-Swedish mixed martial artist who last competed in 2017. A professional competitor since 2006, he formerly fought for the UFC. Biography Abedi was born in 1978 in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), where he grew up. He was given the nickname "Makambo" by the elders, which in Lingala means "trouble", because whenever there was a fight or trouble, he was the first at the scene. He later moved to France and Belgium, before moving to Sweden in 1997. He started training in judo at 7 years of age. Mixed martial arts career Abedi made his professional MMA debut in December 2006. A submission is a combat sports term for yielding to the opponent, and hence resulting in an immediate defeat. The submission – then also referred to as a "tap out" or "tapping out" – is often performed by visibly tapping the floor or the opponent with the hand or in some cases with the foot, or by saying the word "tap" to signal the opponent and/or the referee of the submission. In some combative sports where the fighter has cornermen, the cornerman can also stop the fight by "throwing in the towel" (usually by literally throwing a towel into the ring), which may count as a submission. James Head (fighter)
James Head (born February 9, 1984) is an American mixed martial artist who competed in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Mixed martial arts James started training at Lovato's in 2008 and quickly earned a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu after winning the silver medal at the 2010 World Championships as a blue belt. Before James arrived at Lovato's, he had over six years of boxing experience, and was the Southwest Regional Amateur Champion in Texas. The rear naked choke (RNC) is a chokehold in martial arts applied from an opponent's back. The word "naked" in this context suggests that, unlike other strangulation techniques found in jujutsu/judo, this hold does not require the use of a keikogi ("gi") or training uniform. The choke has two variations: in one version, the attacker's arm encircles the opponent's neck and then grabs their own biceps on the other arm (see below for details); in the second version, the attacker clasps their hands together instead after encircling the opponent's neck.
