The Papillion-La Vista School District is headquartered in Papillion, Nebraska, United States. The district covers most of Papillion, almost all of La Vista, and small portions of Bellevue, Chalco, and Offutt AFB. The district was originally established as the Papillion School District, but with the rapid growth of La Vista (incorporated in 1960), the name of the city was officially added to the school district's name in 1987 by former Superintendent Roger Miller. The school district serves over 12,000 students. Papillion is a city in Sarpy County in the state of Nebraska, United States. Designated as the county seat, it developed as an 1870s railroad town and suburb of Omaha. Offutt AFB
Offutt Air Force Base is a U.S. Air Force base south of Omaha, adjacent to Bellevue in Sarpy County, Nebraska. It is the headquarters of the U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), the 557th Weather Wing, and the 55th Wing (55 WG) of the Air Combat Command (ACC), the latter serving as the host unit. Aviation use at Offutt began in September 1918 during World War I as an Army Air Service balloon field. Originally named Fort Crook, it was renamed in honor of World War I pilot and Omaha native 1st Lt. Jarvis Offutt in 1924.
