''Paper Moon'' is an American situation comedy which aired for one season on American Broadcasting Company, ABC in 1974. The series starred Christopher Connelly and Jodie Foster. Christopher Connelly
Christopher Connelly (September 8, 1941 – December 7, 1988) was an American actor, best known for his role as Norman Harrington in the successful prime time ABC soap opera '' Peyton Place''. He stayed with the series during its entire five-year run, from 1964 to 1969. Early life Connelly graduated from Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. Career In addition to his aforementioned series-long run on ABC's ''Peyton Place'', Connelly guest-starred in 1973 on Lorne Greene's short-lived ABC crime drama ''Griff'', and in 1974, he starred in the television series '' Paper Moon'', with a young Jodie Foster playing his daughter. ''Addie Pray'' is a 1971 novel by Joe David Brown. It was adapted for the 1973 film '' Paper Moon'', directed by Peter Bogdanovich. After the film's release, the novel was retitled ''Paper Moon''. The 1974 ABC situation comedy '' Paper Moon'', which aired from September 1974 to January 1975, was based on the 1973 movie and the characters created for ''Addie Pray''.Brooks & Marsh, p. 795. Synopsis The novel is narrated by Addie, an orphaned girl, who travels with confidence man Moses "Long Boy" Pray in the early 1930s, during the Great Depression. Jack Shea (August 1, 1928 – April 28, 2013) was an American film and television director. He was the president of the Directors Guild of America from 1997 to 2002. Life and career Born John Francis Shea, Jr., Shea's father was a traveling salesman and his mother a bookkeeper. He received a parochial high school education, later attaining a degree in History from Fordham University. Shea broke into the entertainment industry in 1951, initially as a stage manager for the TV series Philco Playhouse, and, following two years of service with the United States Air Force, serving from 1952 to 1954, during the Korean War, making instructional films in Los Angeles, and later becoming an associate director.
