Carson County, Texas
Carson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 5,807. The county seat is Panhandle. The county was founded in 1876 and later organized in 1888. It is named for Samuel Price Carson, the first secretary of state of the Republic of Texas. Consolidated Nuclear Security is an American federal contractor. They are one of the 100 largest federal contractors in the United States. Overview Consolidated Nuclear Security manages the Y-12 National Security Complex and the Pantex plant. Consolidated Nuclear Security is owned by its member companies Bechtel, Leidos, ATK Launch Systems, Lockheed Martin Services, Inc., SOC LLC. Booz Allen Hamilton is a teaming subcontractor. The United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) was an agency of the United States government established after World War II by U.S. Congress to foster and control the peacetime development of atomic science and technology. President Harry S. Truman signed the McMahon/Atomic Energy Act on August 1, 1946, transferring the control of atomic energy from military to civilian hands, effective on January 1, 1947.
