Pandalidae
The family Pandalidae is a taxon of caridean shrimp. These species are commonly called pandalid shrimp. They are edible and have high economic value. They are characterised by the subdivided carpus of the second pereiopod and, mainly, by the lack of the chelae (claws) on the first pereiopod. This is a cold-water family, and their representation in tropical areas is made by deep-sea shrimp. The genus ''Physetocaris ''Physetocaris'' is a monotypic genus of caridean shrimp, containing a single species, ''Physetocaris microphthalma''. Systematics ''Physetocaris microphthalma'' is placed in its own family (Physetocarididae) and superfamily (Physetocaridoidea) ...'', sometimes placed in this family, is now considered to be in its own family, Physetocarididae. Genera The following genera are currently classified in the family Pandalidae: *'' Anachlorocurtis'' Hayashi, 1975 *'' Atlantopandalus'' Komai, 1999 *'' Austropandalus'' Holthuis, 1952 *'' Bitias'' Fransen, 1990 *'' Calipa ...

''Heterocarpus'' is a genus of deep-sea Caridea, shrimp, mainly of tropical areas all over the world. Description ''Heterocarpus'' is characterised by the highly unequal second pair of pereiopods: one side is long and thin and the other is short but stronger, besides the carapace with one or more longitudinal carinae. Species So far, 30 species have been described for this genus, ''Heterocarpus ensifer'' being the type species. The described species of this genus are: *''Heterocarpus abulbus'' Yang, Chan & Chu, 2010 *''Heterocarpus affins'' Faxon, 1893 *''Heterocarpus alexandri'' A. Pandalus
''Pandalus'' (cold-water prawn) is a genus of shrimp in the family Pandalidae. Members of the genus are medium-sized and live on or near the seabed. Some species are the subject of commercial fisheries and are caught by trawling. One species, ''Pandalus montagui'', lives in association with the reef-building polychaete worm, '' Sabellaria spinulosa''.''Pandalus''

Caridea
The Caridea, commonly known as caridean shrimp or true shrimp, are an infraorder of shrimp within the order Decapoda. This infraorder contains all species of true shrimp. They are found widely around the world in both fresh and salt water. Many other animals with similar names – such as the mud shrimp of Axiidea and the boxer shrimp of Stenopodidea – are not true shrimp, but many have evolved features similar to true shrimp. Biology Carideans are found in every kind of aquatic habitat, with the majority of species being marine. Around a quarter of the described species are found in fresh water, however, including almost all the members of the species-rich family Atyidae and the Palaemonidae subfamily Palaemoninae. They include several commercially important species, such as ''Macrobrachium rosenbergii'', and are found on every continent except Antarctica. The marine species are found at depths to , and from the tropics to the polar regions. In addition to the great variety ...

''Pandalus borealis'' is a species of caridean shrimp found in cold parts of the northern Atlantic and northern Pacific Oceans, although the latter population now often is regarded as a separate species, ''P. eous''. The Food and Agriculture Organization refers to them as the northern prawn. Other common names include pink shrimp, deepwater prawn, deep-sea prawn, Nordic shrimp, great northern prawn, northern shrimp, coldwater prawn and Maine shrimp. ''P. borealis'' thrives in waters where the salinity ranges between 32 and 35 ppt, depending on where the shrimp are at in their life cycle. The distribution of the North Atlantic nominate subspecies ''P. b. borealis'' ranges from New England in the United States, Canada's eastern seaboard (off Newfoundland and Labrador and eastern Baffin Island in Nunavut), southern and ea ...
