Panama (band)
Panama is an electronic musical project from Sydney, Australia. Panama formed after Jarrah McCleary's previous band, The Dirty Secrets came to an end. Panama has allowed McCleary to experiment musically and develop a more electronic, house influenced style. Panama has seen band members come and go, but is spearheaded by Jarrah McCleary (lead vocals, keyboard, guitar), Tim Commandeur (drums) and Tom Marland (keyboard, guitar). Panama’s second EP ''Always'' (2014) nabbed the band spots on BBC Radio 1, Triple J’s iconic Hottest 100 and has had millions of plays on Soundcloud. The band recorded an EP in Los Angeles and embarked on tours around the world including playing at SXSW in 2014 and Primavera Festival in 2015. In 2015, Panama partnered with iconic swimwear brand, Seafolly, to featuring the brands latest design’s in the music video for their single, Stay Forever. Triple J Hottest 100
The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music listener poll hosted by the publicly-funded, national Australian youth radio station, Triple J. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite Australian and alternative music of the year in an online poll conducted two weeks prior to the new year. From 1989 to 2018, the 100 most popular songs were counted down from 12 pm on Australia Day. Since then, the countdown has been held on the fourth weekend of January, due to increasing controversy about Australia Day regarding its marking of the colonisation of Australia and dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land. Typically on the day after the Hottest 100, Triple J has played the Hottest 200 ("the songs that didn't quite make it") from 10 am. Petit Biscuit
Mehdi Benjelloun (born 10 November 1999), known by his stage name Petit Biscuit (), is a French DJ and music producer. The 23-year-old French producer has been making music with his distinctive style, forged through combining acoustic elements, electronic production, and his vocal manipulations. The eclecticism of this combination is reflective of his background in the polar spheres of electronica and classical music. He has toured the world, including a performance at Coachella in 2018. Early life Mehdi was born to a Moroccan father and a French mother. Poolside is an American nu-disco and chillwave band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2011 by Jeffrey Paradise and Filip Nikolic. Following Nikolic's departure in 2017, the band currently consists of Jeffrey Paradise with additional members for live shows Vito Roccoforte ( The Rapture), Mattie Safer ( The Rapture), Brijean Murphy (Toro y Moi) and Casey Butler (Pharaohs). Primavera Festival
Primavera Sound (commonly referred to as simply Primavera) is an annual music festival held in Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain that takes place between the end of May and beginning of June. The first edition took place in 2001 in Poble Espanyol and moved to the Parc del Fòrum, a much larger site on the seafront, in 2005. The nature of the festival (urban and an integrated part of the city) and the wide range of bands represented have made Primavera Sound a meeting point for artists and spectators from all generations. Primavera Sound is one of the largest and most-attended music festivals in Europe and the biggest in the Mediterranean. The success of the festival led to an expansion to Porto in 2012. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States.
