Pan (band)
Pan is a Filipino folk music, folk/punk rock band formed in 2002. The band members were composed of former Yano bandmates Dong Abay on vocals, Onie Badiang on guitar. the duo added session members Milo Duane Cruz and Melvin Leyson who handle the bass and drums respectively during live gigs. the band release only one album "''Parnaso ng Payaso''". the song "Hula" won as (Best Folk/Pop Recording at the AWIT Awards in 2003), "''Mabuhay!''"("Long Live") and "''Rebolusyon''" ("Revolution"). Some notable songs from the album include "Dumpsite", and "''Hula''". Pan played for the local rock circuit, but in 2003, Abay decided to go back to school to finish his bachelor's degree in UP. Dong Abay
Westdon Martin Abay (born April 5, 1971), popularly known as Dong Abay, is a poet and a Pinoy rock musician. He was the founding member, songwriter and lead vocalist of the bands Yano, Pan (band), Pan, and dongabay, which are now all defunct. In 2005, he pursued a solo career as an independent artist by releasing an album entitled ''Sampol''. In 2017, he formed a rock band named Dong Abay Music Organization or D.A.M.O. while having other endeavors such as a songwriting school. Biography Personal life Abay was born on April 5, 1971, in Manila, Philippines to Manuel Abay and Susana Martin. He is married to Ninj Botor Reyes. They have a son named Awit (Tagalog language, Tagalog for "song" or "chant"), born on May 15, 2002. Yano
Yano is a Filipino folk/ punk rock band formed in 1993. The band members were originally composed of Dong Abay on vocals and Eric Gancio on guitar. Onie Badiang later joined them to play bass. Nowie Favila was the usual drummer but declined to join the group due to commitments with Ang Grupong Pendong. Other drummers of the band included Nonong Timbalopez, Harley Alarcon and Jun Nogoy. The band got their name when Abay looked through an entry in "''Talahulugang Pilipino''", an old Tagalog dictionary. "Yano" in Tagalog means "simple", a term often used by Tagalog speakers in the province of Quezon. The group disbanded in 1997 after Abay left the band. Eric Gancio reformed Yano in 2007. In 2007, Eric Gancio revived Yano as a one-man band, although he continued to use sidemen as backing musicians for live performances. NU Rock Awards
The NU Rock Awards was an annual accolade presented from 1994 to 2010 by the Metro Manila-based radio station NU 107, known for prominent performances by the most influential pinoy rock artists of each year. History The first NU 107 Rock Awards was held at The Music Hall in Annapolis St., Greenhills on November 15, 1994.
