Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is a public hospital in the outer suburbs of Darwin in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is located in Holtze, just north of the satellite city of Palmerston. It opened in 2018 as a campus of Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH), providing general medical inpatient care, rehabilitation services, elective and day surgeries to residents of Palmerston and the rural Litchfield Municipality. Staff are shared between both hospitals, as part of the Top End Health Service network. Holtze, Northern Territory
Holtze is a locality of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. It is 22 km southeast of the Darwin CBD. Its local government area is the Municipality of Litchfield. The locality is mostly a rural area, just north Palmerston. It may have been named for Maurice William Holtze (1840–1923), the botanist who established Darwin's Botanical Gardens, or his son Nicholas, who succeeded him as curator. In September 2010, the Northern Territory Government announced that new Darwin’s prison precinct, Doug Owston Correctional Centre, would be built in Holtze about four kilometres north of Howard Springs Road. In July 2012, a road in Holtze was registered and named after prison officer, Reginald Anthony Willard (1943–1997), who worked at the correctional centre. Dave Tollner
David William Tollner (born 31 January 1966) is an Australian politician. He was the Country Liberal Party member for Solomon in the Australian House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007, and then served in the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly as the member for Fong Lim from 2008 to 2016. He was the Deputy Chief Minister of the Northern Territory under chief minister Adam Giles from 2013 to 2014. During his time in federal parliament, he sat with the Liberal Party. Howard Springs, Northern Territory
Howard Springs is a locality in the Northern Territory. It is SE of the Darwin CBD. Its local government area is the Litchfield Municipality. The suburb is mostly a rural area, but has been experiencing strong growth in population and development. From 2020, it has housed a major quarantine facility. Early history European settlement of the area began in 1864. The stream which commenced with a spring was named for Frederick Howard in 1865 by the survey party of B. T. Finniss. Howard was the captain of a schooner and a hydrographer. John Elferink
Johan Wessel Elferink (born 24 September 1965) is an Australian politician. He is a former member of the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly for the Country Liberal Party. Early life Elferink was born in the Netherlands and moved to Australia with his parents and older siblings as a three-year-old in 1968. His family settled in Darwin, and he subsequently graduated from Casuarina High School. In 1983, Elferink joined the Northern Territory Police as a cadet. He subsequently rose to the rank of Sergeant (Qualified to Senior Sergeant), and served in both Darwin and Alice Springs. Elferink's career in the NT Police Force was not without incident.
