Palmar Norte is a town in Costa Rica, located next to Palmar Sur in the Osa region of Puntarenas Province. Although small, the town serves as a major agricultural center and as an important transit point for travelers to the Palmar Sur Airport. Osa Canton
Osa is a canton in the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. The head city is in Puerto Cortés district. History Osa was created on 29 July 1940 by decree 185. In pre- Columbian times was populated by Boruca which left legacies such as fields and stone walkways. Geography Osa has an area of km² and a mean elevation of metres. The canton begins at the Barú River near Dominical on the central Pacific coast. It continues as a narrow strip of land southward to include the area around Palmar and Sierpe, finally widening to take in the entire neck and upper portion of the Osa Peninsula, where significant gold mining operations are located. Palmar Sur Airport
Palmar Sur Airport is an airport serving the adjacent towns of Palmar Norte and Palmar Sur in Osa Canton, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica. Palmar Norte and Palmar Sur are divided by the Térraba River at its exit from the coastal mountain range, inland from the Pacific Ocean. The airport is on the southern bank, and north approach and departure cross the river. There is a mountain immediately north of Palmar Norte, and mountainous terrain northwest through northeast of the airport. The airport is owned and administered by the country's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC), and is currently served by one daily scheduled flight from San José, plus frequent charter services. Taxis are available outside the airport. By bus, it costs approximately US$0.20 to Palmar Norte or US$0.60 to Sierpe. Stone Spheres Of Costa Rica
The stone spheres of Costa Rica are an assortment of over 300 petrospheres in Costa Rica, on the Diquís Delta and on Isla del Caño. Locally, they are also known as bolas de piedra (literally stone balls). The spheres are commonly attributed to the extinct Diquís culture, and they are sometimes referred to as the Diquís Spheres. They are the best-known stone sculptures of the Isthmo-Colombian area. They are thought to have been placed in lines along the approach to the houses of chiefs, but their exact significance remains uncertain. The Palmar Sur Archaeological Excavations are a series of excavations of a site located in the southern portion of the country, known as the Diquís Delta, and have centered on a site known as "Finca 6" (Farm 6). Terraba River
The Naso or Teribe people (also Tjër Di) are an indigenous people of Panama and Costa Rica. They primarily live in northwest Panama in the Bocas del Toro Province and Naso Tjër Di Comarca. Hurricane Nate (2017)
Hurricane Nate was an Atlantic hurricane which was the costliest natural disaster in Costa Rican history. An unusually fast-moving tropical cyclone, it caused severe flooding in Central America, leading to widespread destruction and casualties, during early October 2017, before making landfall on the US Gulf Coast. The fourteenth named storm and ninth hurricane of the extremely active 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, Nate originated from a broad area of low pressure over the southwestern Caribbean on October 3. The disturbance moved northwest, organizing into a tropical depression the next day and attaining tropical storm intensity early on October 5. The storm made landfall in Nicaragua that same day and continued into Honduras with little change in strength.
