Townsville is a city on the north-eastern coast of Queensland, Australia. Brisk Island
Brisk Island is an island in Australia's Great Palm Island group. The nearest island is Great Palm Island, after which the group is named. The Nyawaygi name for Brisk Island is ''Culgarool''. Along with nine of the other islands within the Palm Islands group, it falls under the local government area of the Aboriginal Shire of Palm Island. The island was gazetted as an Aboriginal reserve on 20 September 1941, along with neighbouring small islands, with the intention of extending Palm Island Aboriginal Settlement, but it was never used as such. Eclipse Island (Queensland)
Eclipse Island, or Garoogubbee, once known as Punishment Island, is one of the small islands in the Palm Islands group off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The nearest island is Great Palm Island, after which the group is named. Along with nine of the other islands within the Palm Islands group, it falls under the local government area of the Aboriginal Shire of Palm Island. In March 1921 Eclipse Island was gazetted as an Aboriginal reserve, some years after a government-run reserve, the Palm Island Aboriginal Settlement, had been established on Great Palm Island. Some of the other small Palm Islands were later also designated as reserves in 1948 under Chief Protector John William Bleakley, who targeted them as sites for further institutions for punishing people. Fantome Island
Fantome Island is one of the islands in the Palm Island group. It is neighboured by Great Palm Island and is north-east of Townsville, Queensland on the east coast of Australia. The island is small with an area of and is surrounded by a fringing reef. The Djabugay (Aboriginal) name for this island is Eumilli Island. The island is known for its 1928 lock hospital (for those with venereal disease) and 1939 leprosarium, known as the lazaret. Both are now heritage-listed on the Queensland Heritage Register, as Fantome Island Lock Hospital and Lazaret Sites. The island is no longer inhabited. Orpheus Island National Park
Orpheus Island National Park is a national park on Orpheus Island, in North Queensland, Australia. The Aboriginal (possibly Nyawaygi) name for this island is Goolboddi Island. It is one of the Palm Islands group, northwest of Brisbane, as is Pelorus Island to the north; both are in the Shire of Hinchinbrook. Besides Orpheus Island, the national park also includes Albino Rock, which is located east of Great Palm Island (usually known as Palm Island). Orpheus Island is a continental island. Prior to the arrival of Europeans, Orpheus Island was inhabited by an Aboriginal people, probably the Nyawigi people. The name "Orpheus" was given to the island in 1887 by Lieutenant G. E. Albino Rock, formerly White Rock, is an islet east of Great Palm Island, part of the Greater Palm group in Queensland, Australia. The island is in the Hinchinbrook jurisdiction, and is part of Orpheus Island National Park. Pelorus Island
Pelorus Island, also known as North Palm Island, is the northernmost island of the Great Palm Island group. It is located north of Orpheus Island, and covers an area of about . Prior to the arrival of Europeans, Orpheus Island was inhabited by an Aboriginal people, probably the Nyawigi people. It was known as Yanooa and Guyroogarrie in one or more Aboriginal languages (possibly Nyawaygi?). The island was named after HMS ''Pelorus'', flagship on the Australia Station 1860-62. In 2017 the Morris family bought Pelorus Island, who own the Northern Escape Collection; Chris Morris being the Computershare mogul.
