Pallacanestro Petrarca Padova, is an Italian amateur basketball club based in Padua, Veneto. It plays in the fourth division Serie C as of the 2015-16 season. History The club played in the first division Serie A from 1959 to 1969 and 1971 to 1973, taking part in the second division Serie A2 from 1993 to 1997. In July 2015, Petrarca Padova combined with Pro Pace Pallacanestro Mortise to form a new club. Padua
Padua ( ; it, Padova ; vec, Pàdova) is a city and ''comune'' in Veneto, northern Italy. Padua is on the river Bacchiglione, west of Venice. It is the capital of the province of Padua. Ivo "Ivan" Mrázek (18 January 1926 – 4 April 2019) was a Czech professional basketball player and coach. At 5'7 " (1.71 m) tall, he was a point guard. He was named one of FIBA's 50 Greatest Players, in 1991. Playing career Club career In his club career, Mrázek won 6 Czechoslovak League championships (1947, 1948 2×, 1949, 1950, 1951). Aleksandar Nikolić
Aleksandar "Aca" Nikolić ( sr-cyr, Александар "Аца" Николић; 28 October 1924 – 12 March 2000) was a Serbian professional basketball player and coach. He was also a professor at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Sport and Physical Education. He is often referred to as the Father of Yugoslav Basketball. Denis Marconato
Denis Marconato (born July 29, 1975) is an Italian former professional basketball player. At a height of 2.11 m (6'11") tall, he played at the center position. Professional career Marconato joined Benetton Treviso's youth team in 1990, and with them he won three Italian juniors club titles between 1991 and 1994. In 1993, he made his debut in Italy's top-tier level men's professional LBA, with the senior team of Benetton Treviso, in the 1992–93 season. However, he did not have a regular place on Treviso's roster, so he was loaned to Padova, where he demonstrated his talent. In the 1996–97 season, he returned to Benetton Treviso, where the team's head coach Mike D'Antoni, gave him a more important role in the team; and in that season, Marconato won his first Italian League championship. Douglas Edwin Moe (born September 21, 1938) is an American former professional basketball player and coach. As a head coach with the Denver Nuggets in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 1988. Early life Born in Brooklyn, New York, Moe was a star player at the University of North Carolina where he was a two-time All-American. However, his collegiate career ended in controversy when he admitted to being associated with a point shaving scandal. Moe received $75 from fix conspirator Aaron Wagman to fly to a meeting in New Jersey, arranged by Moe's friend, conspirator Lou Brown, but Moe reportedly turned down an offer to throw games. Radivoj Korać ( sr-cyrl, Радивој Кораћ; 5 November 1938 – 2 June 1969) was a Serbian and Yugoslav professional basketball player. He represented the Yugoslavia national basketball team internationally. Korać is well-known for holding the EuroLeague's all-time single-game scoring record (since 1958), at 99 points scored, in a game versus Alviks, during the 1964–65 season, and for once making 100 out of 100 free throws on a live television show in Belgium. Korać died in a car crash in 1969, at the age of 30, and FIBA Europe later established the European-wide third-tier level FIBA Radivoj Korać Cup, in his remembrance, in 1971.
