Palitha Perera
Palitha Perera (also known as Kuruppuge Palitha Chandrasiri Perera) is a well known cricket commentator and media personality in Sri Lanka. Early life and education Palitha who was born 3 September 1942 in Nugegoda received his education from Nalanda College, Colombo. Palitha also represented Nalanda for 32nd Ananda-Nalanda big match. Career Palitha holds the distinction of having been the inaugural announcer on two Sri Lankan TV channels – Rupavahini (15 February 1982) and TNL TV (21 July 1993). Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). The Sri Lanka Rūpavāhinī Corporation ( si, ශ්රී ලංකා රූපවාහිනී සංස්ථාව; ta, இலங்கை ரூபவாகினி கூட்டுத்தாபனம்), also known as Jathika Rupavahini (lit.
