Palatka Gypsy Band is a Folk music, folk band formed by five musicians from the Transylvanian village of Pălatca ( or ''Palatka''), Cluj County, Romania, led by the first violin Florin Codoba. Name The group was originally named by Raoul Weiss and Lóránd Boros for concerts held between 2006 and 2008 at Café Aux Anges (a concert venue in Cluj-Napoca, Romania managed by Raoul Weiss), following the widespread use of this phrase in the English-speaking folk music, folk community in Budapest and in Hungarian people, Hungarian diaspora, e.g. in Bob Cohen's online contributions to the study and promotion of this peculiar music. Pălatca Pălatca is a Transylvanian village 20 miles northeast of Cluj-Napoca.
