Pakshi Pathalam
Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is a Bird Sanctuary and a tourist location in Wayanad district of Kerala state, India. Brahmagiri Hills The Karnataka side of Pakshipathalam is called Brahmagiri (hill), Karnataka, Brahmagiri Hills. This area is also accessible from Irupu Falls in Karnataka. Etymology ''Pakshi'' means bird in Malayalam. ''Pathalam'' means the underworld of the demons. Location Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary is located seven kilometers northeast of Thirunelli town. The hill is 32 kilometers away from the district headquarters of Kalpetta. The hill lies 1740 m above sea level. Papanasini River flows from Brahmagiri (hill), Karnataka, Brahmagiri hill and irrigates the area. Brahmagiri (hill), Karnataka
Brahmagiri, is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of south India. It is situated on the border between Kodagu district in Karnataka state in the north and Wayanad district of Kerala state on the south . Brahmagiri Hill, at 1608 m height, is a scenic tourist attraction. The top of Brahmagiri Hill is well forested and has much wildlife. Tourist attractions Thirunelli Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, lies on the Kerala side of Brahmagiri. This temple is known as Dakshina Kasi or the Kashi of the South. The temple was constructed in an ancient style and includes 30 granite pillars. According to legend, the temple was constructed by Lord Brahma himself. Irupu Falls
The Irupu Falls (also Iruppu Falls) are located in the Brahmagiri (hill), Brahmagiri Range in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India, bordering the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is a fresh water cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole. The Falls are also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls, the Lakshmana Tirtha River. A forest trail leads from these falls to the Brahmagiri Peak in Southern Kodagu. Irupu falls is a major tourist attraction as well as a pilgrimage spot. A famous Shiva temple, the Rameshwara Temple is situated on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River, en route to the Falls. This temple attracts many pilgrims during the festival of Shivaratri. Papanasini River
Papanasini is the mountain stream in wayanad district of kerala. Emanating from the heart of Brahmagiri forest flowing through roots, leaves and flowers of ancient trees and medicinal herbs, Papanasini is a holy mountain stream accessible around 1 km northwest of the temple premises. Pilgrims bathe here as they consider its waters to be sacred with powers to absolve one's sins. Further, the temple offers services to immerse cremation ashes in the sacred mountain stream to be thus carried to Kaveri River and from there to the ocean. This is a part of the last rites. Rajiv Gandhi 's ashes are immersed here. According to Thirunelli temple officials, if the ashes of the dead are immersed in Papanasini, it is equivalent to doing the rituals in Gaya. Thirunelli Temple
Thirunelli Temple (also ''Tirunelli'') is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Maha Vishnu on the side of Brahmagiri hill in Kerala, India, near the border with Karnataka state. The temple is at an altitude of about 900m in north Wayanad in a valley surrounded by mountains and beautiful forests. It is 32 km away from Manathavady.
