Pakistan–United States Military Relations
Military relations between Pakistan and the United States have been present since the two established diplomatic relations in 1947. The United States' military relations with Pakistan used to be close and it once occupied as "America's most allied ally in Asia", reflecting shared interests in security and stability in South Asia, Central Asia as well as in regions covering Eastern Europe. The military establishments of both countries have cooperated in taking action against militant groups involved in the War in Afghanistan and the Bosnian War while cooperating on shared mutual understanding of key issues in security and defense. The Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force regularly engage in joint exercises with their American counter interservices, while the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Marines is the second most consistent participant in Combined Task Force 150 and Combined Task Force 151 after the United States Navy. United States Central Command
The United States Central Command (USCENTCOM or CENTCOM) is one of the eleven unified combatant commands of the U.S. Department of Defense. It was established in 1983, taking over the previous responsibilities of the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force (RDJTF). Its Area of Responsibility (AOR) includes the Middle East, including Egypt in Africa, and Central Asia and parts of South Asia. Badaber
Badaber (, ur, ), alternatively spelt Badhber is a village in Peshawar District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is located approximately south of the city of Peshawar. Overview Badaber currently hosts a refugee camp and formerly was the location of a military prison, established in February 1980. The prison was the site of the Badaber Uprising during the Soviet–Afghan War in 1985, in which captured Soviet and Afghan POWs staged an unsuccessful armed revolt against American CIA- and Pakistani ISI-backed Afghan mujahideen forces in an attempt to escape. Neighbouring villages include: Sheikh Mohammadi, Darra, Bazi Khel, and Kaga Wala. The village is inhabited by various Pashtun tribes, most notably the Momand, Hoorizai and Khalil. PAF Base Peshawar is an airbase of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) located in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is the operational site of the PAF's Northern Air Command, located to the east of Bacha Khan International Airport, which is shared by both civil aviation flights and military flights. PAF Base Samungli
PAF Base Samungli is a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) airbase located near Quetta, in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. Originally used as a forward operating location during exercises and wartime, it was converted into a main operating base during the 1970s. Samungli currently houses two PAF squadrons flying the Chengdu F-7PG and CAC/PAC JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft. PAF Base Nur Khan
Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan (founded as RAF Station Chaklala and previously known as PAF Base Chaklala) is an active Pakistan Air Force airbase located in Chaklala, Rawalpindi, Punjab province, Pakistan. The former Benazir Bhutto International Airport forms part of this airbase. Fazaia Intermediate College, Nur Khan is also located in the base. History The base was originally operated by the Royal Air Force as RAF Chaklala and, during the Second World War, parachute training flights were conducted. Shamsi Airfield
Shamsi Airfield, also known as Bhandari Airstrip, is an airfield situated about 200 miles (320 km) southwest of Quetta and about 248 miles (400 km) northwest of Gwadar in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. The airfield is located in Washuk District and nestled in a barren desert valley between two ridges of the Central Makran Range approximately 21 miles (35 km) southeast of the village of Washuk.
