Pakistanis in Singapore include migrants who settled in colonial-era Singapore, their descendants and more recent migrants, including students. History Most Singaporean-Pakistanis are descended from migrants from the Punjab and North-West Frontier Province who settled in Singapore during the period of British colonial rule. Captain Muhammad Jalaluddin Sayeed
Muhammad Jalaluddin Sayeed was a Pakistani maritime sailor and industry veteran who was the founding director of Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), a Singapore-based shipping company. Singapore Airlines Flight 117 was a Singapore Airlines flight that was hijacked en route by four Pakistani terrorists on 26 March 1991. The aircraft landed in Singapore. The hijackers, who claimed to be members of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), demanded the release of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto's husband, Asif Ali Zardari, who later became President of Pakistan, as well as other PPP members from jail. As their demands were not being met, the hijackers threatened to begin killing the hostages; before their deadline expired, commandos from the Special Operations Force (SOF) stormed the plane, killing the hijackers and freeing all hostages unhurt. It was founded in 1968 as Singapore's national shipping line, but was later sold as a subsidiary to French shipping company CMA CGM in 2016. Shaukat Aziz ( ur, ; born 6 March 1949) is a Pakistani former banker and financier who served as 17th prime minister of Pakistan from 28 August 2004 to 15 November 2007, as well as the finance minister of Pakistan from 6 November 1999 to 15 November 2007.
