Pakistan University Grants Commission Cricket Team
Pakistan University Grants Commission were a first-class cricket team, sponsored by the body that is now the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, that played in the Patron's Trophy in 1990-91 and 1991–92. In all they played 14 first-class matches, with two wins, nine losses and three draws. They finished seventh out of eight in 1990–91, winning two matches and losing five. In 1991-92 they finished last, with four losses and two draws. They also played a drawn first-class match against the touring England A team in 1990–91. The captain in 1990-91 was Shahid Khan, and in 1991-92 it was Ahmed Munir. Mujahid Jamshed hit the only two centuries, with a highest of 149 against National Bank of Pakistan. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. Afzaal Haider (born 12 December 1971) is a Pakistani-born Hong Kong cricketer. Career Haider has played two One Day Internationals for Hong Kong in addition to two first-class games for the team and several games for Lahore City in Pakistani domestic cricket. Aziz-ur-Rehman (cricketer, Born 1966)
Aziz-ur-Rehman (born 31 March 1966) is a former Pakistani cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1983 to 1993. A left-arm slow bowler, Aziz-ur-Rehman made his first-class debut in the 1983-84 season. In the first match of the 1984-85 season, competing in the Patron's Trophy, he took 7 for 45 for Sargodha in the second innings against Faisalabad to give Sargodha victory by 142 runs. In the next match a few days later against Gujranwala he took 6 for 70 and 5 for 74 in a victory by 19 runs. With 34 wickets at 15.35, he was the leading wicket-taker in the competition that season. He took his best match figures, and established the Sargodha record, in 1989-90 against Karachi Whites, with 13 for 78 (7 for 47 and 6 for 31). Pakistan National Shipping Corporation were a Pakistani first-class cricket team sponsored by the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.
