Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P; ur, ) is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded on 17 July 2023 by the former Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak. The party was formed as a reaction to the 2023 Pakistani protests by breaking away from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. History On 9 May 2023, Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau in the Al-Qadir University case from inside the Islamabad High Court. As a result, mass protests were held across the country during which some military installations were attacked, such as the General Headquarters of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi and the Corps Commander House in Lahore. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI; ur, , ) is a political party in Pakistan. It was founded in 1996 by Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, who served as the country's prime minister from 2018 to 2022. The PTI is one of the three major Pakistani political parties alongside the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML–N) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), and it is the largest party in terms of representation in the National Assembly of Pakistan since the 2018 general election. The Corps Commander House, Lahore, ( ur, ), also known as Jinnah House, is a historical bungalow in Lahore Cantonment. It is the official residence of the Lahore Corps Commander. History Corps Commander House, Lahore was originally owned by Mohan Lal Bashin. During the British rule, the British Indian Army acquired the property on rent for a symbolic five rupees per month under the Defence of India Rules. In 1943, Muhammad Ali Jinnah acquired the property from Mohan Lal Bashin. General Headquarters (Pakistan Army)
The General Headquarters (GHQ) is the headquarters of the Pakistan Army and is located in Rawalpindi, adjacent to the Joint Staff Headquarters. It was established on 14 August 1947 in the headquarters of the former Northern Command of the British Indian Army. In December 2017 it was announced that the Army would be moving to a new GHQ in neighbouring Islamabad. Command Structure General Headquarters is the command center of land forces of Pakistan. May 9 Riots
The May 9 riots were a series of violent clashes that took place on 9 May 2023, in Pakistan. Following the arrest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party's leader, Imran Khan, from the grounds of the Islamabad High Court, demonstrations held by PTI's supporters descended into violent riots. There was extensive damage done to government and military facilities as a result of the protests fast becoming violent and engaging law enforcement. The government responded with a mobile internet blockade and a crackdown against PTI leaders, workers, and supporters, as well as those perceived to be allied to the party's cause within the media and legal fraternity. Trials of civilians within military courts were also initiated and are being challenged in the country's Supreme Court. The National Accountability Bureau ( ur, ; abbreviated NAB) is an autonomous and constitutionally established federal institution responsible to build efforts against corruption and prepare critical national economic intelligence assessments against economic terrorism for the Government of Pakistan.
