Pakistan Super League
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) (also known as the HBL PSL for sponsorship reasons) is a men's Twenty20 cricket league contested by six city-based franchise teams. The league was founded in 2015 by the Pakistan Cricket Board. Instead of operating as an association of independently owned teams, the league is a single entity in which each franchise is owned and controlled by the investors. Each team plays the group stage matches in a double round robin format and the top four teams with the most points qualify for the playoffs, culminating in the final. There have been nine seasons of the league. Islamabad United are the most successful team, winning the title three times. Lahore Qalandars are the only team to successfully defend its title, after winning in the 2023 season. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is a sports governing body for cricket in Pakistan responsible for controlling and organising all tours and matches undertaken by the Pakistan national cricket team. A member of the International Cricket Council since 1952, it represents the country's men's and women's national teams in international cricket tournaments played under the ICC. Following the establishment of Pakistan as an independent dominion of the British Empire in 1947, professional and amateur cricket commenced in the same year, seeing as local infrastructure had already been established when the country was part of the British Raj. 2022 Pakistan Super League
2022 Pakistan Super League (also known as PSL 7, or for sponsorship reasons HBL PSL 2022) was the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Played between six teams in a double round robin format with strict COVID-19 prtocols, the league began on 27 January 2022 with first phase in Karachi. The second phase including the playoffs took place in Lahore, with the Final played on 27 February where Lahore Qalandars beat Multan Sultans by 42 runs to win their maiden PSL title. HBL Pakistan retained the title sponsorship, and the broadcast partners are PTV Sports and A Sports, while Daraz is the livestreaming partner. Lahore Qalandars ( ur, ; pnb, لہور قلندرز; abbreviated as LQ) is a Pakistani professional cricket franchise which plays in the Pakistan Super League, representing the city of Lahore.
