Pakistan Army FC
The Pakistan Army Football Club is a Pakistani professional football club based in Rawalpindi, Punjab. The club was established in 1950 by Pakistan Army and is third oldest existing club in Pakistan after K-Electric (1913) and Pakistan Navy (1948). The club plays in Pakistan Premier League under the licence from Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). Pakistan Army has won the top-flight football league in Pakistan 4 times, National Football Challenge Cup 2 times and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 5 times. The Pakistan Army represented Pakistan in the AFC President's Cup 2006, and again 2007 as last seasons national champions. In both instances, Army showed poor performances, finishing bottom of their groups and failing to qualify for the next rounds of the tournaments. In 2016, Pakistan Army defeated Pakistan Airlines in the All-Pakistan Football Tournament at the Peoples Football Stadium in Karachi. Punjab Stadium
The Punjab Stadium is a football stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. It was nicknamed the "Ian Rush Stadium" after the Liverpool striker visited Pakistan to promote grassroots football in the country. Muhammad Essa was the first man to score an international goal at this venue. Real Lahore, WAPDA FC and Wohaib FC use the venue for association football matches. Construction The Punjab Stadium was built in 2003 at a cost of $220 million. The stadium has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. It was designed by architect Khalil-ur-Rehman & Associates, and is also used for athletics, kabaddi, rugby league and rugby union. Matches In 2006, the stadium hosted Pakistan's Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan. Next year, it hosted 13 of the 15 matches of the AFC President's Cup. AFC President's Cup
The AFC President's Cup was an annual international association football competition between domestic clubs sides run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held between 2005 and 2014. The competition targeted emerging football nations, and was set below the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup competitions. Competition format Between 8 and 12 teams participated in each edition of the competition. From 2005 to 2007, 8 clubs were placed into two groups of 4 teams. The winners and runners up would advance to the semi-final stage. All the matches were held in a single host country. From 2008 to 2010, the tournament was increased to 11 clubs. A qualification round was created and the 11 clubs were split into three groups of 3 or 4 clubs. Each group was played in a different country. 2015 NBP National Challenge Cup
2015 National Football Challenge Cup was the 25th edition of the Pakistan National Football Challenge Cup, the main domestic cup in Pakistani football. The tournament was held in Lahore, commencing from 15 April 2015 and concluding on 28 April 2015. The season was called NBP National Challenge Cup as it was sponsored by National Bank of Pakistan.
